Black screen after launch

Hey support and community,

Being a big fan of this game and unfortunately it was closed down several years ago.
I recently found this pS out.

Excited I followed the steps to take in order to launch the game which was succesfull, but for some reason my screens does not load the background (stay black).

I can't select a faction, nor race/ class
I relaunced the game several times and even re-installed the game.

The files I used were direct downloads (not the torrent), does this cause the issue?

Also uploaded a screenshot of my findings, and hopefully it make some sence.

PLease advice me what to do here, so I can join the carnage.

Update: I was able to create a character (on guessing, still had the black screen) and on loading the game, the gamne shut down.

Mssg: Data.myp:
System.Exception: You need to stop application currently using the following file: data.myp
at MYPHandler.MYPHandler.WriteFileToArchive(FileInArchive archFile, MemoryStream MS)
at MYPHandler.MYPHandler.ReplaceFile(FileInArchive archFile, FileStream newFile)
at RoRLauncher.Client.UpdateWarData()

So I followed some guides, on which I unchecked the 'read only' checkbox on the file, where the game is extracted.
Nothing helps..

Looks like some parts are incomplete. Try re-extracting the game.

Thank you for responding, much appreciated.

So I deleted all my downloaded files and re-download them from the main - proposed solution link on the site. I use direct download only, since torrents aren't my thing.

I dl the package

and extrated those zips. reapplied the RoRLaunched.exe in the same file and execute.
The issue still occured, so that did not fix it.

Upon loading the game, I got a new error:

After a clean reboot, same issue (black screen), now on loading it shuts down again, without an error mssg.

I thought it was a driver issue, but with the latest GPU's that should not be an issue here.
However I checked the readme.txt and the old game does not list my GPU - GTX760 :/

Are there more angle's to look at?

Shows runtime error. Have you got the latest Windows updates?

Once again, thank you for your time helping me out.

I did had to update my W10 and after updating my Windows and GPU drivers.
The black screen still occurs and loading the maps/interface still terminates the game, but now without any log or error mssg.

What I do find odd, is that these files are created on my desktop after the game crashed/ or when I load the game:

HashDictionary.dll
mythloginserviceconfig.xml
MYPHandler.dll
ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll

Also when I play around within the settings options, all the frames with options are there, but transparent. So it seems that something is not rendered or the launcher has trouble finding the files?

Do you need a dxdiag or a hijack log?

Could I also try to install a original copy and swap some files?

Please let me know.

Can you try downloading the torrent? I think that it would be much easier!
1)Download the torrent.
2)When it completes shut down M/U torrent.
3)Go find Warhammer game folder(wherever you downloaded it).Right Click>Properties>Uncheck the read only>Hit Apply/Ok.
4) Download RoR launcher and put it in the game folder
5)Run the RoR launcher
6)Play the game
Try the above and if problem still persists report back.

So I unchecked the option and it executes some things inside the folder, but when I emediatly check the properties again, it is back on read-only!

Seems that is an known W10 issue, try to solve that.

Yeap...i think its W10...please can you make the effort to go Back to Previous version of Windows and try again? I assume that it should work fine.Windows 8.1 here. If you want to go the a previous version of Windows click windows menu(bot-left) go to settings>update and recovery section>Go back to previous version. Try that out and report back again.

Read some Microsoft policy...specifically state that the updates that Microsoft might be releasing for your computer at some point in the future could block you from playing pirated games and disable the use of unauthorized hardware. Cheers win10 users.

hey all,

thank you all for your participation in this topic.
I also played WoW vanilla (nostalrius) for a couple of months and no problems there!

A rollback is not something I considder atm, I can try playing this game on my old rig (W7)..

I also had a small succes, seeing the ingame world!

But as soon as I re-enable all the mods, the game crashed.
So I Cut- paste all the mods out of the file and relaunced the game start crahsing again, hopes are lost....
