to be honest I was never a big fan of PvE during the main run of the game till around the end, the last year or so.

That said, my first toon my WH I leveled to 40 in PvE because the Empire story is amazing. This time around I plan on doing all the stories...well except dwarf/greenskin.... i mean.... dwarves and green skins are useless anyway arent they????

But I type in the shade of blood anyway, it's nothing to do with the general post. :P

This was the point I was making, thank you Dread.
With my witch during Official WAR, she completed both the Chaos and the Dark Elf storyline. My SW completed the Empire storyline and would have completed the High Elf one too (had only 3 zones to go) if WAR hadn't have closed.

And once again, I CAN respect that. People played WAR for various reasons and it would be fitting if they can do so again once possible. ;)

So don't be hatin ... I'm not, I just don't like ignorance.
But again .... this is not the thread for this.

I liked the Chaos story, but what I liked most about PvE i WAR, were the PQs and dungeons. I loved the idea of fighting Nurgel demons under the IC :)

It really frustrates me to no end how people will boast about this being worth for RVR only! I won't give a rant about the importance of PVE in this game's history. I can respect people who only play this for it's RVR. But if you try to convince me that PVE has no value, then you certainly are not playing this for it's value of being Warhammer.

There is one thing to be said for those who don't get alot of time in real life to spend chunks of game time, leveling a character. This I understand. But when I hear (and I do within Advice Chat ect) "I want to do Scenarios, not boring leveling. Leveling sucks and I can't be bothered! Why is this hard? I need this to be fun, now, now, NOW! F*** it! RAGE QUITTING TIME!!!" ... it makes me not want to assist people, something that I can enjoy doing too.
But I am talking about impatience, where these arguements about RVR is opinions. WAR for the longest that I have witnessed, is split much like the factions of Destro/Order, us and them between those of RVR only and RVR/PVE. Play it your own way, I am usually fine with people doing so, but boasting that PVE has no value is just plain ignorance. PVE is a fundamental part of this game, one I hope will return to it's former glory!
BUT ...

The thread is ACTUALLY about the importance of XP currently in-game, a topic I DO support!
WAR did always have an XP gain in RVR, but it was of only 1/3 of the XP gained from PVE NPC kills. I believe it is very much sound, that we do see this return from RVR kills also. It would indeed ease the current grind in PVE for people, whether they are PVE supporters are not, the XP was something that was in-place from beforehand. This would boast a bit more morale in people to play this game again too for those that are RVR loyalists in particular.
This idea has my vote. ;)

P.S. I'm really not interested in your views about my rant above. Just know that I support all aspects of this game and their return. That is all.

I very much agree on your stance to PvE in WAR. In fact, i think it had some of the best PvE ever made in a fantasy MMO. I very much enjoyed it. I played WAR for the excellent RvR and the rich lore of its PvE. PQ's were brilliant, the dungeons were brilliant, the zones were brilliant (cannons firing over head, big keeps under attack, great side quests/ storylines). I levelled up through both equally.

Regarding this thread. Isn't XP etc removed for now because it simply isn't functional?

Luth wrote:Not exactly the thread subject, but those are my ideas for capture the flag scenarios:

- a scenario win with 500 points should give a huge amount of renown
- make capturing objectives the only way to get points to win the scenario (kills give renown, but no win-points)
- flags should be captured faster, when more players capture them
- after capturing a flag and no friendly player is in range, a hidden timer starts to run; when the timer reaches 0, the flag is uncaptured
- the timer runs faster for the side that has more players (bigger difference = faster timer)
- the timer kicks in only if a side has more than one flag captured

Maybe not perfect but better than vanilla WAR, where short after the beginning of the sc the dominating side farmed the other side right before their spawnpoint. This is boring for both sides. :)

-i dont understand the 500 point thing about giving more renow.. all sc are set to 500 poitns
-if you only get renow from kills well it'll become a 0-0pts for 15 min with 1 side farm the other to wc for getting more renow as possible.

what i will tell is strange but, if you want that a side do not farm other's and let him exit from wc the only way is to make flag tick renow point, as bomb do in some SC.

That's the only way + what you told above about flag unclaim timer etc.

This will set sc an "hold objective play" instead of a"killing play", well we can even give some rp for kill/solo kill but it must be lowered, if the sc consist in hold objective i should take renow for hold objectve not kill enemy.
And this is alredy done cos more point you have up the end of sc more renow you get, but is not comparable to renow you could achive from kills, this is wrong......boost the first and lower the second and reallocate the first on objective tick every x sec will remove the problem.

I want to give scenario wins with 500 points the biggest renown (the side that reaches the 500 points first). They can only reach the 500 points by consequently conquering all flags and holding them (as kills don't give any win-points). There will still be fights, but they will take place more nearby the flags and not at the spawn points.
If the dominating side is just farming the other side at their spawn point, they won't win the scenario with 500 points (and don't get the big renown-bonus), as their flags were automatically uncapped through the hidden timer if they don't fight for them.
So the fighting is happening also, but the goal is to win the scenario.
But that's just the theory... :D

Hey guys,

in future there will be the possibility to level through pvp (rvr & sc) but it will be like the orginal. Not faster or slower.

A reward for doing things like win a sc or lock a rvr Zone would be nice no doubt. But there are more important things for example fix all combat mechanics, class mechanics and skills.
In my opinion it is important to fix first all battle related things so that the fight about the reward is a fair fight.
But anyway if it is a easy to add a reward for sc wins it will come faster if it is more work we need to wait for it.

At the Moment the only reward you get is the head from your enemy. Cut it off and take it home with you. Waaagh!

Regards

You're right. But we need these ideas for the year 2024, when you guys won't have anything left to work on the server. :geek:
