Contribution wiping when swapping chars

is there any reason for the contribution to be wiped when swapping chars in the zone? I understand that it cant be carried to the next char we log, but what was wrong with it just staying tied to the original one? As it is now, it makes organizing groups more difficult and actually punishes players with multiple characters who try to make groups balanced, and i cant see why is this a good thing. Long story short, anyone remembers why this mechanic was introduced?

as fas as im aware this has alaway been the case
dont log on an alt til the zone is taken
or if u know what will happen accept youve lost your orginal toon's efforts

if youve done over 1 hour in 1 zone its always best to stick around

i know it is the case, im also assuming that if theres no longer a reason for this it might perhaps be changed as it does make the gameplay more restricted for no apparent reason
Edit: while im aware you play exclusively DPS archmage i do think that if theres only 2 healers in destro warband i should perhaps switch to healer so that said warband is more effective. Im asking whether punishing behaviour like this is intended.

The issue was with the bag roll bonus. Was too easy for ppl to stack up bag roll bonuses on all alts by just popping into a zone but not realy doing much

like powerleveling, stack up contribution with your best geared toon and transfer it to alt.
get bag rolls on multiple toons for 1 zone lock.
2 obvious reasons.
they're creative at "smart" farming.

i dont exclusively play dps AM, all my toons get a run out once a week for a few hours each at least
tank, healer, mdps
i prolly play dps AM 75% of time, so that's the majority of my time, aye, but not exclusively

if there's only 2 healers in the destro warband i dont think one person is punishing the wb and that person should lose contri to log an alt healer
anyone of the other 22 players could have chosen to roll up level up or log in and play their healer and then join and help the wb with healing and rezzes from the start
it's a common chuckle that usually the ones who scream the loudest (and some very rudely) that they need tanks and heals ironically utterly refuse to roll any tanks and heals themselves and expect to pewpew or smack stugf and have carebears at their beck and call to guard and heal them.

Lack of heals and tanks in a wb is the fault of 20 to 24 people in the wb not 1 person

Healers and Tanks are not a locked out character class at login, Anyone can play one

@Mel i still think that system shouldnt punish the one who do want to swap to healer, regardless of whether its me or whoever else. Its not a matter of actually balancing the realm yourself, the thread name isnt "rewards for logging healer". Im also not pointing any fingers, just mentioned you might be misunderstanding my point but it seems that isnt the case. To explain once again: currently in the said situatin swapping to healer would reward the whole warband but actually punish the player swapping char, specifically wiping the contr he already gathered in the zone.

@anarchypark i mentioned it, but ill say it once again: im not talking about contri transfering to alt, im talking about contri actually staying on the toon i got it on. if i play DPS for 4 hours then im asked to bring heal i want to get some reward for playing DPS for 4 hours on the aforementioned DPS, otherwise swapping is literally gimping my progress. Sharing contri is not something i want to see, as it would make fort reservations an elaborate game of gaming a system to begin with.
edit: about the second point, is that a bad thing? I mean,what exactly is wrong with getting contri on several chars if we have praag as the only open zone for 5 hours for some reason?

Unfortunately its much easier to lead on a MDPS than it is on another type of char hence why many wb leaders are on MDPS. I'd love to lead on the chosen but the mara is so much more effective.

It is a shame that the contribution loss has to be there as it does stop people from logging what is needed but without it, the bag farming would be peoples top priority. i.e log 1 char run 5 boxes, log next char run 5 boxes etc

I believe it still would be an issue .
The problem is that each toon would get a roll and probability becomes quite high to get a bag once all alts get a throw of the dice for minimal effort.

Memory is not 100 but this I believe was the justification originally when they added personal roll and that logic would still be relevant

is it really that big of an issue? I mean, box running isnt as effective as it was and in empty zones you dont really get enough contri to win a bag this way. To get a bag youd need to actually get to a high roll bonus on a char, which does require some effort. And thats on top of people usually not having more than 3 toons they re gearing. Though i guess its ultimately about how easy it would be to abuse the system.
