I dont know what people mean by underpopulated. There should be RvR tier 2-3 for 16-39 and 2-3 tactics not 4. If not then why just not give all skills and 31 career points when you ding lvl 25 or so?
Would lvl the playing field quite a bit, but still lvl 25 vs rr80 would be imbalanced as it should because they have the GEAR+Renown points but at least everyone has same amount of tactics, all skills and 31 mastery points. What are the reasons for not doing this? I cant think of many others except FEAR that the GEAR is not enough for " best players/ae spammers " and their fragile ego's would take critical damage for losing to lvl 25 as rr 80
Originally ror had the same tiering system as war did. However, the middle tiers for people in the range 12 to 32 were always pretty empty, making rvr and sc impossible. So in ror this was fixed by merging all players in the range 16 to 40, in order to fix this issue.
Ofc everyone knew that this would be hard on fresh lvl 16 people, that now have to face lvl 40 players in rvr, so a bolster was introduced. I believe to still have some kind of ability progression, and not to overwhelm new players, most abilities and tactics are still unlocked over time.
Ofc this design choice is debatable. In my opinion it wouldn't hurt handing out all tactic slots to lvl 16 players. The ability progression could be altered, so that all core abilities are rewarded on the first 16 levels.
Yeah. I think that Battlefield Objectives work much better when they have Guards and 10s flag cap without taking any dmg and then defending it for 3 min before it locked for 10-15min for your realm and healed keep door or reduced dmg to keep door by a big amount. Also Npc box runner that you right clicked and started to move at 25% speed to keep or to warcamp whichever was closer i think. It could be damaged/healed and if killed and resourses picked up it contributed 50% resourses to side that killed the npc.
I think that system creates more opportunities for small parties to affect the campaign and be useful in their own small ways. There is more hotspots and less zerg surfing (or you have possibilities BESIDES zerg surfing to gain good renown)
Imo RoR was most balanced and had the best fights back when 36/40 was the max rank. So 3 tactics instead of 4. When lvl 40 was released in RoR and there was Overlord/Imperator gear you needed to debolster yourself to get and that was great! But then you had tier 2+3 with tier 4 and i think this is what made it unpopulated.
Because if we merged tier 2 and 3 to one not two tiers, i don think there would be population issues? To get Overlord/Imperator you needed to get Kills while debolstered in tier 2 and tier 3. If middle RvR tier happened, i think this debolster + upgraded Overlord/Imperator set idea should be brought back=)
I remember some of the 2pc bonuses. Dps Dok/Wp had 25% off Divine assault/rend soul cooldown and 4 vanq/4oppressor with 2 overlord/imperator just made perfect sense and they synergized very nicely. Like for example Tanks with 4 Vanq and 2 overlord had 7% all avoidance proc with 8% all avoidances proc and they stacked to 15% all avoidances.
That is just beautiful
