Let's just hope people actually buy the new Warhammer Fantasy models when The Old World comes out or else it'll be dumped like the original Warhammer Fantasy was. Don't forget, sales of Warhammer Fantasy miniatures - which is GW's core business - had basically flatlined which is why they ended up doing Age of Sigmar, and AoS has been a massive financial success.wargrimnir wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:03 pmI think we can all be happy when they bring the Old World storyline back, and admit Age of Sigmar was a stupid mistake pushed by someone who really just wanted to work on 40k, but was assigned to Fantasy instead.
Warhammer Fantasy is still a very popular setting in general which is why GW still allows games to be made using it (Total War and Vermintide being the big 2) so it's not like they're trying to kill it off completely. It just wasn't selling miniatures and GW had lost almost all of their share of fantasy tabletop wargaming sales (this was also at the time that Warmachine and Hordes were doing amazingly well until Privateer Press botched the launch of version 3 and never fully recovered).
Also, the concepts for the classes like the DOK and Zealot were designed in collaboration with GW who as Warg said had the final say on most things.
