Enjoying the engi changes but I would suggest making the range increase no effect snipe.

The full range on snipe is just a bit too far, and it encourages warcamp / spawn sniping.

We can't target the range increase. It affects all skills or none.

Bear in mind that Snipe and Bolt of Change have a cooldown adjustment on RoR, which we can repeal if required.

There is nothing fun about being killed inside a safe zone while you cant do anything about it, if being a **** skill/class grants you the ability to grief, we should also bring back 150ft fetch so we can fish people out of the warcamp with impunity.

I would suggest snipe should be a snipe and being a sup par ability since release should have a benefit
Sexy suggestion. Boc/snipe should be BOOM headshot :p

If warcamps and safe zones are being hit, then we need to tweak the safe zone mechanics to cause guards to respond to damage taken by friendlies within warcamp areas.

If Snipe / Bolt of Change become insane at range, there are two real options:

- Complex handling, reducing damage over last 50ft or 75ft of range.
- Cooldown restoration to 10s.

This exact problem can manifest with towed siege weapons already.

What if you reduced the default range on snipe to 110, kept the damage, and then added an additional effect?

That way it keeps its range with the turret buff.

If you can do that via your new .ap ex thingy.

The client limits very heavily what we can do.

The implementation of the Engineer/Magus range works clientside by sending the buff "True Magic", which has a component which increases range, so that the client will recognise the range update. How a given buff component affects the client is defined by the client itself, and in True Magic's case it's a general range modifier. For things like range, cast time modification etc. we need to find a component which does something close to what we need to do or we can't do anything.

Changing Snipe's range directly would require either patching a client .myp, having the client load one of our own, or (if something is exposed in the client's LUA) using a patcher to download an addon which would rewrite the range directly. I'm still a little unsure about the whole concept of patching the actual client files, and not willing to take unnecessary risks with the existence of RoR.
