I would just like to cut in here to shut down two hopeless arguments that are being used:

The original Warhammer had poor support, so this setup is perfectly acceptable in Return of Reckoning!

Nope. Poor support is poor support. Who cares if the original game was badly supported? Does that make hypothetical failings of Return of Reckoning acceptable, and does it mean that those failures will be any less destructive than those of Mythic?

The answer is that it doesn't.

You're getting it for free and hard work is being done to reproduce it, so don't criticize!

My opinion on this is that constructive criticism is always warranted, and the reason for that is simple: this project is being run as a public server. Underlying that is the implicit assumption that a playerbase is being cultivated and that the development team want to keep that playerbase satisfied. That, for me, means that reasoned and constructive criticism of how the staff interact with the users and the choices being made in running the place is valid and should not be referred to as ingratitude. It means that the users should expect to be updated on progress occasionally, too.

What IS offensive is when people simply tell us what to do outright, immediately start talking about things they want fixed in the next patch in a new patch's patchnote threads and other similar ungrateful behaviours.

Do you actually have some sort of hidden dev/staff forum aza? Where you at least internally talk about stuff? maybe someone like Elven could post us a weekly update on whats your plans there or whatever.. ?

How do you wanna know that the applications weren't appreciated fron the team? I looked inside some of those application threads and most of them got no replies but that doesn't mean anything. I think the devs contact new staff members by private message.
It really sounds that some people think that our devs are on vacation or something. It can truly be so. maybe they got also work to do in real life. Who knows, but its kinda offensive to criticise their personal behavior. Indeed, I little more transparency would be great but still this server is in his very first months and its awesome what they made in this time. This project is so far from being a fulltime employment for the devs because I think its hard to spend their full freedoms to this.

Patience is once again the magic word ;)

I made DB application and got PM from Dana within a few days. He even helped me sort some mySQL problem over Skype.

Thing is, despite my enthusiasm to help out, I've not had the time to contribute to the database side of things. Too busy with real life, you know, work, kids, those things. I imagine most people that apply don't realise how much work is really involved.

Here's the punchline. When I do get a bit of free time do I fire up my local RoR dev server and try to figure how it all works so I can contribute? No. I load up Martyrs Square as I just want to play and hit things with my axe/claw, And I can do this thanks to thei ncredible effort of Devs and Staff of which we all should be forever thankful.

Now this is unsettling. We would like to be sure, that you (devs) don't crawl alone in the dark.
And don't care how you manage to keep in touch: with telepathy or pigeon post etc.
Means determine end.

Here is what I think. Keep in mind that this is only a suggestion. What I really think the team needs is a security team. Those that fix problems between players and warn people of the consequences that will happen if they continue down their destructive path. I'm a firm believer in 3 strikes. If the team would create something like that, I would take charge of it. The team would punish those who are doing wrong. Again this is a suggestion. Hopefully this would diffuse a lot problems and the devs could focus on the game and get it up and running much faster.
