for others it is astonishing to see you justify an unpleasant experience by a "wait and see at a higher level, it will be worse", "the system is like that, use it as it is" or "you must follow such and such a path, otherwise do not be surprised "

Fortunately, the ROR team does not think like that otherwise no innovation would have seen the light of day. I imagine none of you have done an exploratory study on this. 1. buy full set of your level gear.
2. put talismans

What about us SOLO players? **** this "group game lalalala" mantra. That **** isn't working anymore. It belongs in the past. Solo activities should always be viable. And they aren't right now, oh lol, they aren't and a half!

what is working solo anyway ?
beat 6man alone ? or get sov 80 at same pace with 6man ?
as same solo player as you i have no problem crushing enemy skulls.
just little bit more death than others but that's because i'm solo. so it's working for me.
what is your "working" ?
It's a different topic. You want to go there?

yes i want answer. what is working solo ?

There are two types of people in the world: those who want to make everyone suffer like they did, and those who want to make things better so others don't have to suffer like they did.

This kind of post is absolutely useless for new players joining the game. Get good, join a guild. Ok, but you don't even know IF you like the game yet. You don't know what is fun, what is not, and if the game is worth spending your free time playing. Assuming the person isn't put off by the 2003 graphics, which to be honest weren't even great then, they have to deal with a much slower game using a wide variety of gcds. None of this is the devs fault, want to make that clear. Those of us playing know all this and knew all this going in for the most part and should hold nothing against the devs for that.

The new zones are not friendly for real new players. They are buggy, you really have no sense what is going on, and often times you are lucky if you see other struggling nubs. Your chat window is a spammy mess of 500 messages per second, so you might not even know what advice channel is, or even how to use it. Or worse, see a lot of the toxic comments in chat and don't want to get ripped on by a 100 "get good drink potions use talis" crew.

You have no idea what counts as a good class, or a good build. You assume tank or healer, or you want to play a "rogue" so you play wh/we thinking they'll be useful. You find a PQ and are like oh this reminds me of WoW, not knowing WoW stole it from WaR. You are willing to overlook the earlier issues as so far you are doing ok. You see your gear often requires a renown rank, and you find out you need to do scens or rvr to get that, so you join a scen. And you got stomped on again and again and again. No amount of git gud and potion drinking is going to change the fact you have zero chance against a twinked out dps dok or wp. That some AM or gobbo is going to burst your brain and you got zero tools at low levels/rr to do anything about it. So you die. And die. And die.

And are like wtf am I doing playing this game? This is not only fun, but this is old game fun without the fun. So you log on and play something you actually enjoy.

This isn't my experience btw, this was the experience of 2 friends of mine I tried to get to play the game, a husband and wife pair that were well experienced in pvp and mmos as a whole. The goal shouldn't be a crucible of melting down players until we get a handful of chosen few left who were willing to stick out being grinded down. We should be retooling things so new players have an intuitive way of figuring out what they need to figure out, and have an enjoyable way of doing so that doesn't always put them at a disadvantage against people who have played the game for 10 years. At this point, even if they DO decide to keep playing, how long do you think it takes a new player not to be so undergeared as to be free kills against the many old timers wearing full sov? You asking them to suck for how long. A month? 3 months? Half a year? Out of a hundred new players, how many you expect to keep with that sort of mindset? Then you find out the realm you are playing is now on one of those downturns where they are getting wtfstomped all day. Hard to get gear, get medallions, get emblems, even if a group, when your side is sucking hard as a whole.

Again, not blaming the devs, but we as a total community need to do better if you want new players to not only come visit, but stay.

Thank you for this sharing of experience.

It is really necessary that you understand that reporting our feelings on this forum is an act of generosity. We love this game and want you to come to terms with what it feels like when we are constantly crushed.

Because know that you will be the first to suffer the consequences of an impoverishment of your community.

And of course, the ROR team is not to be blamed, but rather help them with some constructive thoughts that will help new players have a pleasant gaming experience without being made easy.

These new players will invest a little more and will be the raw material for your personal enjoyment in future epic battles.

So something some of you folks are forgetting is we don't really need a lot of new players. This isn't a for profit game. As a matter of fact too many players creates extra problems and expenses. We just need enough to maintain some semblance of a healthy population which so far is true.

Having a bit of a crucible they go through isn't actually harmful for the server. The ones that stay really want to be here and I'd rather have that in this community than tourists.

You get new players through word of mouth and positive experiences. Having to fail for 3 months so older players can feel good about themselves is the exact opposite of that. Real pvpers want good competition to prove themselves against, not annihilating a bunch of nubs so they can post their DK kills on their fridge. Real pvpers like competition, they like a variety of situations they and their group have to adjust to. Real pvpers like finding new metas, new ways of using classes/skills in new ways the other side wasn't expecting. You get new ideas and new possibilities by bringing in new players.

You preferring a small community of diehards in what is supposed to be a massive multiplayer game is cute. Maybe you are a dev, maybe you are a RC, or maybe you are just like me and a player. Whichever doesn't matter, history already showed us what happened to the game when the experience was miserable. 64 servers to 16 to 4 to 2 to 1 to dead. And you want to take the remnants of the dead 1 and have the game based off that. Not exactly the best business model. I doubt the devs are doing their hard work and effort to appease 12 hardcore dudes and would prefer their game to become popular. Or not. I won't put goals in their mouths, they do what they do cause they enjoy it.
