Re: The TOVL thread
Copy and paste some keeps and bos into the desert and turn lotd into a real rvr zone. One where you need to cap the whole zone to unlock tovl, then you need to clear tovl in a set time limit and then beat the world boss, all to unlock, umm, well, something cool I guess.
But really, though I liked tovl itself (mostly to drag people through it against their will, but it was also a cool dungeon if you disregard the bugs), that zone was just so cool that its sad it was mostly unused. Giving it some kind rvr significance would be probably be unrealistic, but still it would be amazing.

It was fixed eventually, which granted took over a year, so its understandable how tons of people quit over it, but they did balance it out, with the gear being equal to warlord and the jewelry being about equal to the renown vendor set (glyphs were still better, but it was a 1-2% difference at most). So no reason it wouldnt be balanced here, especially when these devs could make further tweaks to the parts that were still broken (ie capes)covenn wrote:ToVL was absolutely horrible as was PvE in general in WAR. This is one of those things best left dead. Grinding this garbo and broken dungeon for hours on end for game breaking, unbalanced drops to remain relevant was part of the issue on live.

Re: The TOVL thread
TOVL is one of the worst MMORPG design ever and I hope it will never come here on RoR, even without the stupid power creep it had. It was bad design cause it completely destroyed the T4 PvP and dumbed it down, leading to a face to face combat in an arena, but only while switching "ownership": if Destro was locked in TOVL, Order had basically nothing to do other than Pvedooring, and viceversa. Look at Dark Age of Camelot: 3 SIDES, NOT 2. Mythic didn't learn from their own game, and failed. When TOVL came out, me and many other peeps basically stopped playing. Don't want RoR to end like that
Re: The TOVL thread
Odjira and sandstorm crystals were the only two good things in lotd. Being permanently snared is no fun. So having talismans that could break snares made the game much more enjoyable. However, the speed buff on the odjira was overdone. The sandstorm crystal was a more balanced item, a higher proc rate with a smaller buff.
You don't need lotd to introduce similar talismans. You could use any of a range of methods to make them available.
The rest of the lotd gear just led to more imbalance.

Re: The TOVL thread
Well, just make it so you don't have to fight about the zone. Just make it open to everyone, all the time. Problem solved?kryss wrote:TOVL is one of the worst MMORPG design ever and I hope it will never come here on RoR, even without the stupid power creep it had. Re: The TOVL thread
Personally I always considered it to be cheesy that you could piggyback others* to get end gear with a freshly dinged 40.
Zero RR reqs on PVE or som other kind of unlock system that actually required effort or PVE playtime for PVE/PVP end gear is just so .... bad

A reasonable RvR system that could make the majority happy http://imgur.com/HL6cgl7

Good luck trying to PvE (not just mobs) while you get constantly harassed by the other faction, even in dungeonsRazid1987 wrote:Well, just make it so you don't have to fight about the zone. Then put a RR requirement on the PvE gear ^^Bozzax wrote:Personally I always considered it to be cheesy that you could piggyback others* to get end gear with a freshly dinged 40.
