That would necessitate an even more stringent contribution check before even being allowed to roll. Otherwise you can just sit there afk or cultivating and eventually get gold bags for doing absolutely nothing. Right now that's mostly kept in check by the lower roll numbers and contribution and the fact that the persistence bonus resets on any bag. If it only reset on gold bags I could sit afk for 10PQs and be guaranteed a 1000+ roll for the next gold bag. And even with more stringent contribution it could be gamed by doing the absolute minimum required each PQ and still eventually getting a gold bag. This makes for a bad system, you should be required to actively participate in the PQ to get a gold bag (or any bag imo).

Another reason this is bad is that (I hope) eventually gear will be added to the other bags as well, and back on live at least the purple bags had some real nice gear. At least for now it would be great if we could have the higher level tali making containers added to the t4 PQ bags so that they're not totally useless.
of course not, currently +100 change and currently contribution system would totally work fine i still have to see afk ppl with 001 roll win over a g-bag , then stop thinking as 20 ppl farming 1 pq is a normal stuff, wont happen anymore after ruin set thus it's not good base anything for good permanent future change on a temp situation where you have base t4 set as top t4 set; ruin gear in future need to be throw at ppl or none will even use it once moving onto t4, even more if there wil be some kind of debolster form which will allow you make renown in t2-3.
Again stop think as a base t4 set which is primary for tanks as an end game t4 set like sov is. The better tank get gear when entering in a tier the better the tier experience is for everyone as melting tank just create imbalanced fights.
Yes, in the future ruin (as well as anni / merc) should be made more accessible as the higher tiers of gear become available. Now is not the time for that since the set is still highly relevant.

Gratz to you, my friend.
Unfortunately, I'm not a zealot, my main is a tanky Borc. I've spent about the same, if not more, time over there and have 2 pieces to show for all that time. That's 8 hours that I would have rather spent in PvP :)

Yes, all very entertaining. Must confess I didn't watch all 2+ hours of your video, I decided eating some cornflakes was a better use of my time. Still of bugger all benefit to my tanky borc, but I'll bookmark it in case I do need a cure for insomnia one evening. cheers :)

I've noticed BWs and Keg Engis always seem to get top contribution and most of the gold bags. Damage has too much contribution which makes it near impossible for tanks/pure healers to get anything when one of those are around. I'd imagine it would be the same with sorcs.

Can confirm, 9 / 10 times I'm there with sorc I have +500 contribution. The remaining 1/10 will invariably be another sorc (if present) or magus.

Try using "You got nuffin" tactic in the path of da boss tree. Team HoT should help alot with PQ contribution. Just using the regen knight aura helped me get my set quicker.

Yup, done that. Also using big swing to AoE, also taunting & Challenge AoE taunting, and if all that was not enough also tried guarding both highest dmg output and high dmg incoming people.
End result, slight improvement but not all that much.

Still doesn't make up for the fact that in order to replace my Deva gear & get the BiS tank gear for PvP I "need to" mindlessly grind out hour after hour of boring PvE PQ play which is about as much fun as having full root canals one after the other without anesthetic. Not only grind it out, but also be at the mercy of the wonderful RNG gods who keep giving me duplicate piece after duplicate piece of gear as and when I maybe win a gold bag.

I wouldn't mind doing SC (PvP) after SC to get emblems for the Merc hear but it's useless for a tank. I play RoR because it's a PvP game at heart, so I do find it more than a tad annoying having to grind PvE to get a competitive starting gear set to go into PvP - just seems illogical.

I think I've done the PQ 12 times today, being 2nd in the scoreboard at most, making no progress towards my Ruin set. in the meantime, in 1 hour of RvR, I've gotten 8 emblems which means I'm slowly on my way to a new item. Wouldn't it be possible to at least reward the first 3 places in PQs with "parts" of Ruin gear so we can one day achieve the items whilst we're unlucky?
