This AM cheanges looks very intresting, I always disliked to be a healer spec in Isha. Now this Vaul spec may be very good and definitly much fun than root yourself in place and all the time spam Blessing of Isha which cast time was 2,5 sec. For sure I will spec now in Vaul.

Regarding the m1 fof/ensnare nerf:

I guess the reason behind this was to buff rdps, so I wont mention the mindgames you could play with that in a melee 6on6(balanced fight, not niche gameplay).

M1 is a moral so it has 60s cd, it can take 36s to get (with 0 moral gear).
It will be broken by rootbreak, rootbreaks usually have 60s cd for mdps and 60s/20s for tanks.

Rdps/healers all have access to focused mind (m2 moral). Focused mind can take 72s to get without moral gear, yet with +2 moral you get it in 60s. The perfect counter to m1 root.

M1 root has 65f range and rdps usually have ~100f range (healers 100f-150f) so if the rdps play cautiously they can avoid being hit at all or being hit the first 60s, to get focused mind.
Play-counterplay. Nothing difficult about it. L2P

Not having to take focused mind as a sw/sh enables them to go for unshakable focus, which is an almost certain deathblow. Bws/sorcs can use focused mind at will now for dmg spikes.
Congrats you just lowered the skillcap of rdps even more and increased it for mdps.
It is true that this is a stronger nerf to mara, since WL can close gaps easier, has a ranged snare (weapon) and a better melee snare than mara. Therefore a biased change.

fun "fact":
I guess these changes were made because mdps is a niche and this project wants to cater the majority (rdps), similar to the pug premade argument.

It was me who came up with it.

Iirc the m1 back on live never was a perma root in the first place and RoR just had a bugged implementation from the start off. This is rather a bugfix, than a nerf if u ask me. A good one nonetheless. Sure there was already counterplay for it, but you basically expect me to keep my m2 up all the time for the moment i see a marauder range snaring me.. You cant be honest and tell me thats entirely how i am supposed to use it.

I suppose you prolly like all others should back it up with proof before you pass it along as bug fix.

One way would be to ask the "players" that mained Mara/WL on live for example.

A reasonable RvR system that could make the majority happy http://imgur.com/HL6cgl7

Live had trivial blows, rdps didnt matter that much.

I expect an rdps to stay in 100f range to a mara. L2P issue #1
I expect that you watch your opponent, does he have m1 root? Did he use his moral? L2P issue #2
I expect cds being blown to make the rdps survive a 10s root. L2P issue #3

I could go on if you wish.
If the rdps does not have to be cautious to not get caught there is sth wrong with the game.
If you want to make balance changes I would appreciate a balance discussion before.

I am missing the arguments why this change was necessary.....

Let me stress that im not speaking as an convinced engie player - but i dont understand why some of you are whining and grinding their teeth. These changes are online just since a few hours. They are EXPERIMENTAL, on an alpha (read experimental here) server with us as players (read testers). So play, test, give feedback and dont cry beforehand. The game isnt going down cause of some changes... and it will not progress without them too. And now im off to play some bt overlord.

The Marauder M1 root "Flames of Fate", the White Lion M1 root "Ensnare" and the Knight of the Blazing Sun M3 root "No Escape" will now have a 25% chance to break any time the target is attacked (direct damage, application of DoT, etc.)

Additionally, other roots have had their condition fixed. They previously checked break chance on any damage instead of when the target was attacked, meaning they were very unreliable in DoT-heavy climates.
So more buff for rdps and nerf mdps that could actually reach them?...

Wha da fack?

I guess we need more defensive sorcs/bws, more sh and sws etc... might as well just run groups with tanks+heals+rdps now :/ Since dps tanks will overcome mdps.

Wtb balance topics BEFORE things like this..
I dont recall melee groups being so weak ...
- Martock - Tiggo - Antigonos - Mago - Hamilkar - Melquart
- Smooshie (Destro)

Since the break changes on M1 roots are considered more controversial than expected for a change made with only internal consultation, they will be removed pending a balance forum topic.

If you like to play sc and often pug as a mdps you often get killed from rdps while you get no guard and no chance to get near them. Now they can kill you from 50 feet more with more damage. While you got to walk 150 feet hopeing they dont kite, snare or knockdown/back you.
