Really balancing a class that needs the survivability for melee while also having a full backline heal spec was never going to work. Id take regen off books increase the regen from melee and give them a rootbreak. You'll never balance them as a backline healer without wrecking them as melee.

It has, though as I've just posted in another topic, the client is the problem. If I force Divine Mend to be Divine Strike, the client's info will be wrong and I believe it will also attempt to animate the cast bar and strike animation for Divine Mend on the WP's client - though the ability will appear to be correct on other clients.Telen wrote:Has it been discussed to bring back the melee heal that was switched for a single target ap heal? aoe heal in "dps spec" shouldnt be reduced by dps tactics equipped but increase its cooldown, cost and reduce the range to really make WP frontline healer. ability to deal damage and heal at same time those near him with ability to ST burst heal with DA and grp heal for higher ammount once every 10secs or so might make that class more interesting and actually viable to support melee train.
at same time make some tactic that would turn them to backline healers - reduce armor, increase se/rf regen, increase range on heals, lower cooldown, some crit maybe.... something similar to FO for tanks - you deal higher dmg but your armor goes to hell in exchange. as was mentioned X times - healer that can usually be tankier than tanks and still be the best possible healer for grp is insane idea

Glad to see I'm not the only one that's sad not to be able to melee heal with a WP/DOK ^^. Issues with melee WP are :
1°) he needs a guard to be viable, so that's one dps that will not be guarded
2°) he lacks a decent option to reach melee range. A healer has to be reliable, if a single kb+snare is enough to neutrlize him for several seconds then it cannot be viable + if all you can reach is tanks you'll wont heal much
3°) as everyone said, melee healing is just too weak.
Number 3 is pretty easy to fix as numbers tweak could be enough, but it will be much harder for the 2 others. For number 2, he'll need a charge or something like that (maby replacing useless abilities like sigmar's shield and moving it on top of the tree to prevent rheal specs to abuse it?). The main issue imo is number 1 that is inherent to the melee healer concept itself, and could only be balanced by giving melee healer a much better healing/utility than rhealer, but without making him OP...

One good thing the wp/dok provides is a low skill cap class that anyone can play effectively. Problem is that the high skill cap classes dont provide enough benefit when played well to compete so you end up with people feeling forced into playstyles that arent really appropriate to the challenge they want to get from gaming. I played the first year of war as a dok healer. Ive progressed far past finding that playstyle even remotely engaging now yet I would be more effective if I did. You cant ask people to not have fun so you can. If you want a dok healer you play one.
