[Witch Hunter] spec questions

Hi folks, right now on my 32 witch hunter, I have 9 points in judgement, and 6 points in inquisition. I have pistol whip, and FC unlocked as well. So, couple of questions. I spam torment as my go to attack. But I've read that exit wound is a great finisher. Would the damage trade off be worth it to spec almost fully into the inquisition tree for exit wound? Or, should I go for burn away lies? Which I've also heard is a good finisher?

Also, is pistol whip worth it? I try to use it every time I can, but it doesn't seem to work very often.

Thanks in advance folks.

I use BAL as an assist tool when helping kill targets attacked by others

Otherswise I use absolution

Yes pistol wip is a staple that you should always have imho

Fully loaded Burn Away Lies is far more superior to any other finisher in the game, dealing damage on every tick equal to your Torment on the low armoured targets and the final tick sometimes rivals that of the Boiling Blood. High armour mitigates it quite a lot thou but its true for all of the other WH finishers
So it literally doubles your damage in most cases and no reason not to take it. The debuff of Exit Wound overlaps with KotBS auras, aside of weaponskill, and the damage is slightly more than of Absolution. And Dragon Gun is a joke.

the problem is that you dont want to use a slow ticking dot of 9s as your finisher on wh whom are all abut bursting people down quickly

hence why i feel its better to use abso in most cases and BAL when assisting

Single tick of BAL is higher, including the initial, than any damage Absolution can muster.
On the plus side, Abso range is great and has its uses, like helping an ally with heal debuff bullets from a far or kiting in melee range to avoid excessive damage.

I've never seen that BAL can be a rival for BB. BB = 2k, BAL 700-1500 max.

It could on live because the initial apply BAL could actually crit. So you would get cases where normally you would do 500 damage per tick and then the last tick would be 1k (just random numbers)... if you were lucky enough to crit on the initial apply, every tick would be 1k damage and then the last would be 2k... but if the last tick also crit, you would basically do 4x the damage than normally would be possible...

I don't know if they ever fixed that on live or not but I remember when I played my WH it was still possible. ;)

5 pt abso crit and 5 pt BaL opening crit - both on squishy targets that are somewhat comparable.

Right now as a WH you either spec full inquisition or full judgement, with the 13 point finishers kind of defining the build/playstyle.

The inquisition build has some of the best utility abilities of any MDPS on order which will turn you into an amazing "support" for anyone that you are assisting, but will lack the raw damage of the judgement build. Great if you are in a party as the 2nd DPS and they don't have an incoming healdebuff, mandatory even.

EW is the strongest toughness debuff in the game, PTF is one of the best heal debuffs, and every 60 seconds when you have SoD up you can deal some pretty good damage.

Judgement has more damage but lacks the incoming healdebuff, toughness debuff, and seal of destruction. This is mostly due to fanatical cleansing. This build right now I would recommend if you have like say a SW or rune of absorption slayer in your party or if you are soloing.

As far as having trouble getting pistol whip off, it is something you will just get the feel for over time. You also need to be able to identify those situations where it might just be best to pre-use feinted positioning to get off the KD ASAP on a target you know may not let you at their back. But be careful doing that because it will allow it to be blocked/parried etc... not very useful on MDPS/Tanks.

It's because BW usually easily debuffs corporeal resists, and my post mentioned very low armored targets, like fresh lvl23 or IB armor debuff of a choppa/shammy/zealot. ;)
