Fun numbers

Disclaimer: Best effort and I normally have at least one or two errors in data. If it is wrong it is wrong!

Disclaimer2: Gives a hint nothing more there are so much more coming into play before you have damage numbers in your combat log

Have fun!

This is surprising:
DoK doesn't do more damage than WP.
Sorc DOES do more damage than BW.
Zealot and RP are equal.
Swordmaster needs a buff (ok, that's not surprising, but less dmg than a WP?)

Etc.

So, what am I looking at here exactly? Am I reading it wrong?

You are seeing average ability base damages @40.

Like all average numbers they are confusing and sometimes misleading. Some abilities have multiple hits and most classes don't do the same number off attacks (per second). WL coordinated strike is a good example of this. So those numbers aren't DPS.

Instead they give a hint of the class average ability base damage disregarding stat contribution, hit type, weapon speed, mechanics, crits and how many hits the class do. Also note "Ability" also imply AA (Auto Attacks) isn't included.

They are just fun numbers.

Warning I forgot to filter out secondary hits (trigger condition hits) which usually are weaker. Stuff like "25% on hit out to do additional X damage" are included.

Dual wield and COVs play a role but I would be forced to say they are reasonable close (ability damage)

If I remember correctly BWs have more secondary hits which complicates it a bit

No no RPs are much cooler

Stats come into play here and obviously damage type (physical, corporeal, spiritual, elemental)

What am I seeing here? Is this current T1 damage potential? Seems about right for that. The later tier change this alot though as you see the apex dps slayer/sorc pull well ahead.

You can see why the Shaman are so op in t1 by this. Also surprised at the WH damage but their dots are alot shorter and require melee range.

Unfortunately the game was balanced to lvl40 and the lower tiers were always pretty unbalanced. Hopefully as the classes get a bit more finished they start to up the level and we can reach a more balanced level. Also when they added the new renown ranks and 80+ weapons messed up that originally balanced for endgame.

As i understand it, these are only base values at rank 40 and not representative how a class is performing in general.
