[Archmage] How to heal

So I've been lvling my AM up with healing in mind. Can anyone explain how to properly heal with the AM? Do I just spam BoH and AoE?

You'd normally play with a WP, so they will cover most of the AoE healing.

Use Lambent Aura, Healing Energy, Shield of Saphery and Cleanse most of the time. Using Magical Infusion and Funnel Essence to provide a burst of healing.

When someone is getting heavily focused then you can use BoH to try and keep them up.

AoE heal when you take heavy AoE damage that WP can't do by himself.

You can also use Mistress of the Marsh more offensively, it snares people but also reduces their initiative, so slap it on a cluster of enemies that are being focussed. Other than that, it's a life-saver if you are forced to kite, which you often are as you're squishy so will get focussed a lot.

More than the other healers, an AM is all about positioning. Your heals can hit the hardest, and you got some serious spike healing, but many of the casts are rather long and fragile (significant set-backs on being hit), so you need to be rather undisturbed.

BUMP: Could a mod or a webmaster rename the ropic to something else (not "Archmage healing") cause we already have a topic named the same (Joies's vids)?

Is it worth investing into the morale pump tactic for BoH? Seems very useful on paper, but does it live up?

If your team has a strategy which revolves around certain morale 3s/4s then it's ok.

If you yourself as OP edit the first post, you can modify the title by yourself.

Well, I'm talking more from a pug standpoint here. Cause were I to use the moralepump, I'd be forced to drop either desperation, the HE buff tactic or +10% heal crit tactic.

I feel like in AM to get the most out of the class when in the healer role you can't just be healing like say a RP would be doing.

Marsh and AP drain are extremely powerful, but they aren't set and forget spells like runes on the RP. They need to be used intuitively and that means you need to be paying attention to the fights and not staring at your enemy UI 24/7. You also have access to things like a very strong silence or decent inc healdebuff depending on how you spec.

And then here's the problem w/ AM, they are setup to also deal damage but it's absolutely pitiful and not worth the GCD when you are heal spec. The mechanic needs to be reworked so that dealing damage is either significant to the point where a healing archmage will want to take the time out of their rotations to use a damaging spell via their mechanics, or go down a path where certain damaging spells, damage types, what have you will have additional debuffs or benefits when used via the mechanic.

For instance, maybe at max mechanic (light) using searing touch on an enemy will increase the duration of all debuffs on that target by 1 sec for every 1 sec channeled. Or perhaps tossing a dot on them will nullify the next cleanse used on that target.

I feel like AM is sort of in the same spot IB is in terms of group play, sure AM and IB can do very well... but it is just way easier to swap them out for SM/RP and just faceroll without having to have your team play around their mechanics.

i just got my AM to lvl 40 and was going to try healing out, seem fairly straight forward with tactics for pugging for me, but what im wondering is if the morale 4 in Isha is working at all? since there is a few M4s currently not working in most classes mastery trees
