Kazzig raced down the dark tunnel up towards the shining light. He gritted his teeth, pushing although his legs began to fail him. The ravenous cries behind him grew louder with every step, sure to catch up with him. In a final bolt, Kazzig reached the top of the cave, immediately bathed in sunlight. He howled in pain, shielding his eyes with the palms of his hands. The voices behind him soon faded in the background, retreating into the darkness of Mount Gunbad.
It all began one fateful day with Kazzig forced to escape the one place he ever called home. You see, Kazzig had a tendency to steal things. Only this this time, he stole from the wrong git! Kazzig should have known better, but he was simply too curious. He had seen what effect it could do, causing the other goblins to become enraged, like fanatics lost in battle. He knew that if he could get some of that special brew, then he could become da boss. But, as cunning as Kazzig was, he lacked the subtlety to accomplish his goals.
"WAAAGH!" Screamed Glix, wonking Kazzig on the head with his staff.
"I'll turn ya into a newt, ya stinkin' gitface!"
Glix barked out orders, gesturing towards the squig herders nearby. Already, Kazzig understood what was to become, as the creatures were released from their pens. For his thieving, he'd become their next meal. Turning instantly, Kazzig bolted for the exit, only to be stopped by two others. They grinned with satisfaction, excited to see the squigs do their work on him. Kazzig, in a moment of panic, drew his knife, digging it into the goblin closest to him before pushing his limp body into the second. He made past the two guards and began his escape. Rushing through the tunnel, he had no time to gather his belongings, or his favorite shrooms. No, Kazzig instead ran up the cavern, toward the one place he had never been; the surface.
The others soon let off their chase of him. No Redeye goblin had been to the surface, and they had considered him doomed for doing so. Kazzig would start to wearily grow accustomed to the piercing sunlight, allowing his black hood to shade his eyes. As he wandered off aimlessly into the Badlands, he saw the pillars of smoke rising in the distance. He slowly began his march, unsure of what was to become, but vowing that he would one day return to Mount Gunbad, and be da boss!
