gtx 1080 @1440p

Hi,
I`m looking for players to share their opinions and expierience with playing RoR on gtx 1080 GPU and 2560x1440 resolution.
Any drops of FPS in heavy WB vs WB fights, keep sieges etc?
I`m thinking about upgrade my gtx 970 to something newer. Atm I got more less 60-70 fps and sieges 30ish with drops to 10 fps.
Also, g-sync monitor would help?

Not a GTX 1080, but I use a GTX 980 ti, on a 4k LG 38" monitor, and this game runs like butter. Your GTX 1080 should run just as well.

Hey bud,

I'm rocking an i7 6700k, 1070 with the Dell 27" 1440p 144hz monitor. I'm not sure why, but I do get random drops in fps, but it's never game shattering (maybe because of how old the game is and how new my tech is? I don't know how those things work). I will say normally I'll sit at 100fps in game (that's the max IIRC). I don't recall my frames during keep sieges, but I don't notice a drop in performance really ever until keep lord situations with 200 people. I'm running pretty much max settings too and don't change it. So, I think if you got a 1080 you'd be pretty solid.

When i've tested with 1440p/4k i've not really noticed a drop in frame rates on an i7 with a 970.

The games engine is a pile of garbage so a better GPU/CPU wont give you more FPS. You will see the game rarely uses 20% GPU

I dont worry about maxing fps cause thats easy, I worry about fps drops on heavy fights, and will better GPU than gtx 970 and g-sync fix it. my CPU is i7-6700 and 16gb ram.

I have a GTX 1080 @ 1440p and no FPS lag whatsoever. I'm having some really weird server lag today, but nothing to do with the specs.

G-Sync is amazing at making framerate dips less noticeable. What it won't do is make your game run faster when there are four warbands in an area. So if the client dips to 20fps all G-Sync can do is match your montor to the same low ass framerate.

All we can do right now is essentially throw CPU clock speed at it until cooling can't keep up. Faster RAM would also help but that gets expensive real quick. Would be very interesting if someone with 2400Mhz sticks gave us some info on how their client performs under stress.

Besides fps drops in heavy fights most annoying thing for me is stuttering when I turn char around, v noticable when I log in or change map, like enter sc, or fly to other zone.

Are you using an SSD? That would help with load times.

Yes, both windows and games are on SSD.
