Unflagging for pvp

I know this has been spoken about before but i really think it needs some attention because players are deliberately unflagging themselves.
What i suggest is having players always flagged for rvr, which is what this server originally had i believe. While i understand some ppl will not like this idea because there will be a few dicks that will attempt to kill players at a lower rank in pve areas, it is a bigger frustration fighting someone and having them unflag when they are in trouble and im sure if some **** was to camp lowbies in pve area there are many ppl who would come and help rid the scum, which also builds friendships and rivalries.

Personally, I've never actually encountered this problem. There have been people who have appeared not to be flagged for PvP, but I've still been able to damage them just fine. Does anyone have explicit evidence of this issue?

So when this problem appear for you, you will do something about it? I doubt this is the first time this has been said/told.

I agree with Morf.

I experienced this today from serp molot guild, all pvp flagged and fighting then when the tide turns they are magically unflagged, this shouldn't happen.

Edit- let me add i know there are times when ppl are not aware they are unflagged but these players deliberately unflagged themselves.

Also if you doubt my reasoning for this there were many players who saw this earlier today, its possible the majority didnt see this directly but there was a chosen in the guild dont panic who's name was telrir ? or something like that who saw this first hand along with me.

Just go to a lair whenever the bosses are about to spawn, you will find a lot of unflagged players.

Here are my observations; Ignore if they are known:

1). If someone queues for an SC, then goes to elf lair, for example... That player remains flagged for quite some time. So, if I join an SC in Blighted Isle, then it ends -- I'm flagged for PVP. Even if 10 minutes pass -- and I get the message that I'm unflagged -- I'm still flagged.
2). Now, let's say someone logs in to see if the boss is up. No PVP that session -- That person will not be flagged, and will be "orange."
3). Considering Point 2, if that unflagged player is healed by a flagged player, he/she is automatically flagged for PVP -- whether he/she is aware of the heals or not.

I have never been able to kill someone who has just logged in and has not done any PVP. Similarly, nobody has been able to attack me in the same way, unless I've been healed.

sometimes it's unintentional cause manually flagging never used to be required. if someone is unflagged i just mention it and 9 times outta ten they say they didn't know and rectify it. forget myself at times

Thank you for assuming good faith.

There are a number of bugs which can cause abilities not to work at all, examples being X/Y range issues (because the server and client positions don't match) and an issue with the Zmod when relogging. Both of those would cause you to swing for no effect, and if the player you're attacking is orange (but actually flagged) this issue would appear to be caused by the /pvp bug. This is why I advised posting some evidence of the issue - to attempt to rule out these other factors.

I would also like to note (in case it isn't obvious) that if someone who is orange is attacking you, they're flagged on the server. If you attack them, you'll receive the system message saying that the player isn't flagged, but your abilities should also go through and show damage in the combat log.

That is why i know these players deliberately unflagged themselves because a minute before they were engaged in combat, attacking and had been healed.

Aye it is, most likely been unflagged by mistake myself and generally a pm of flag yourself for pvp will do it but on this occasion it was different and the players in question would not flag themselves for rvr.

I dont want this to get out of control to the point where nobody ever dies outside of scens because they chose to play the loser card and unflag themselves, always flagged for pvp solves this issue.
