Re: WL-WE OR MAGUS?
WL is best mdps in game, insane burst and best mobility, medium armour. You could even go full pokemon spec and watch as your pet kills people for you.
WE is fun with decent dmg, suffers from lack of mobility and has to wear light armour.
Magus does decent ranged dps, has turret/pet to increase dmg/range, solid pick for ranged pewpewing.
Play what you enjoy most. All dps classes have abilities that kill people, some are just more challenging and less ezmode than others.

Re: WL-WE OR MAGUS?
I definitely can recommend WL, played one before the wipe and it was the most fun mdps experience I ever had because of the burst, mobility and cc. Shame elves look like bunch of pansies.
Re: WL-WE OR MAGUS?
magus is a fun pub class because, whilst not being very effective at one thing, you're a floating toolbox
you can get all of your important ST stuff + rift. you can go dots and endless pandemonium entire wbs for renown farming. you can go defensive rift and just randomly terrify people. you can feed AP to your entire backline. you can lay mines, snipe with the longest range in the game, self heal to some degree, ST multiple targets, or even play around with the new firestorm + tactic
tl;dr, magus is not meta but really fun

Or you can rock a melee range magus like me.... but is very gear dependent.tazdingo wrote:magus is a fun pub class because, whilst not being very effective at one thing, you're a floating toolbox

Stealth, self-punt and snare/root immunity that you can trait in to a sprint, how's that lacking?Aurandilaz wrote:

Re: WL-WE OR MAGUS?
All mdps have a variant of snare/root immunity, thats baseline. Self punt requires enemy target to be already upon you, charge can be used both offensively and defensively, and then combo'd with Flee.vianiznice wrote:Stealth, self-punt and snare/root immunity that you can trait in to a sprint, how's that lacking?Aurandilaz wrote:

Stealth works sometimes, sometimes not, very prone to breaking for one reason or another.
The FleetFooted "charge" requires tactic, and unless you doing long distance running competition against a WL, it's not really worth losing a tactic slot.

Re: WL-WE OR MAGUS?
Don't go with a Magus.
The Magus is best known for his fluff damage, and with the DoT nerfs- it can't even do that very well. It also requires a lot of prep time before you even begin to do decent damage...so unless you only plan to do SCs- don't expect to be doing much damage since you're always on the move in orvr and can't really get those 8 stacks needed.
Sure he has some adequate utility- but it's nothing other careers can't do...there's Rift, but that gets blocked/disrupted more often than not.
White Lion is all around a better choice.

Re: WL-WE OR MAGUS?
It's very situational- so not the best all around choice.
Yeah, if you're perched, with a full support group, then you should be doing decent damage, but when you're constantly on the move, like in orvr, executing a full rotation (at max damage) is unlikely. I do fine blasting off un-defendables in SC but in orvr I'm lucky if I even get to cast Rend Wind, let alone Bolt of Change, before the target dies.
Not everyone is as invested as he (nuclear) is- so for a "newb" that can't decide what he wants to play- it's the worst possible choice.
