Out of Party Healing
Out of Party Healing
When playing in oRvR I try to heal out of party or out of warband as to facilitate overall support of the war effort. I have noticed that I do not gain any renown from healing these people and therefor I have no incentive to do such. Why has this aspect of the game been changed?

Re: Out of Party Healing
There should be minor renown gain available from healing a wounded player who has a "renown pool" from having contributed to a recent player kill. That pool may be small, and it dries up fast, but unless something has changed, it should still exist, though it is far less rewarding than what it was on live.
Ideally you should not heal randoms, but focus on healing your own party, and occasionally help other parties in warband or in scenario to prevent full team wipe.
Healer in itself is a support class, your task revolves around supporting your own party, and by extension the warband, though keeping warband alive is more about keeping the meatwall standing and alive, less about renown gain.
Best way to gain renown as healer is to play a pockethealer for some really good dps player, or play in a proper 6man/warband that makes the bodies and renown rain.
Healing randoms only increases the chance that they may live longer and end up doing more dmg to the enemy, which in turn shrinks your party's possible renown gain.
Ofc in some situations if you see a small fight where your realm has few people fighting few other people of enemy realm, you should be able to get some renown from the "renown pool" of your allies assuming they first have killed something and then need some patching afterwards.

these responses....
They nerfed it from how it was on live to encourage healers to actually play in parties. So pretty much what Aurandilaz said, although not healing randoms when you have the time / resources to do so, because they may take away possible renown / tokens is a **** move imo
Of course I am probably biased as I play solo a lot

Re: Out of Party Healing
Why would a healer take the time to heal a person who "normally plays solo" when the mechanics were changed from live to encourage healers to join parties?
I'd rather save my ap for my group or even just drop a poor insta dd, i'll rezz people when i get a minute then maybe give them a hot if i have time.

Yeah screw your realm and any kind of realm progression. It's all about me, me, me! (sarcasm)Telen wrote:Never heal out of party. These people are stealing your possible renown.

Re: Out of Party Healing
By playing a support class, you are already playing a selfless class. Telling a healer it is about 'me me me' when the current implementation of the game forces them to be like that to progress their character isn't very fair.roadkillrobin wrote:Yeah screw your realm and any kind of realm progression. Well the change was good for scenarios, but for oRvR is actually encourage healers to not heal and not group unless in an optimally setup group. Quite the opposite effect thereEgoish wrote:Why would a healer take the time to heal a person who "normally plays solo" when the mechanics were changed from live to encourage healers to join parties?

Re: Out of Party Healing
I was actually having a long discussion with an RP the other day about healers and RR and how he feels. I actually have a new found MORE respect for them. They get less RR than dps classes, less of them to help the "faction" , focused on the most vs enemies, accused by dps for not doing enough healing when they die. I try to say thx for when I get out of party heals. I don't expect them, but they can be a great assistance. I say thank you to all healers.
First RR90 Slayer working towards the top of the mountain.I still solo, still run riposte.
