is it legit?

maybe this question sounds odd, but i want to ask anyway, just to be sure.
warhammer online is down foreever ok, but what about this emu?
is it legit or not?
i ask because if this emulator is legit there are few ways to publicize it and get more players.

Our private server is "Legit". In the sense that we are a non-profit project.

Which means we accept no money from the community, and we gain no financial support towards the project. We work solely off our own time, and our own pockets, with the intention of reviving it as Return of Reckoning.

Elven, what do you think are there any ways to get an official permitions from EA and GW somehow in future to develop this project?

well then maybe there are platforms that we can use.
usually i buy games from steam for example, and there are the option to publicize private products like in "steam green light" that would provide a great visibility.
i never used it, i only know there's a little quote that someone must pay to publicite it on steam.
well that's just an idea jumped in my head after i've found you and read about your work.

Being that this is a privately owned, and (more importantly) privately funded server....I would think that too many players would actually present a problem. More players require more servers. More servers require more money.

As far as i remember, max wrote that the server is easy scalable for more performance. I doubt there will be more then one live server ever.

I was part of the facebook group, not just who signed a petition, but who had a core group of people dedicated to speaking directly to GW. These folks, very similar in dedication to our Devs, hand delivered a petition w/over 1K signatures from players around the world, and their many faceted proposals to assuage GW and at least extend the closing date and/or explore new options for funding. These folks met with the department that deals with copyright issues, and soon after had a sitdown with the CFO of GW. After one week we received a heartfelt, apologetic and frustrating letter from GW CEO.

To paraphrase," Guys, we're gamers, just like you. The last thing we want to do is rip your world out from under you. Unfortunately, EA Games owns 51% [of what I don't recall atm exactly]; that paired with their [2013] Fiscal Final Quarter Losses report, and with the Warhammer IP being at the near top of the list of consistent, yearly loss, in the multimillions of [stockholder's] dollars, EA won't touch this IP again, and wants it buried." ***PLEASE remember, this is my best recollection and NOT A QUOTED STATEMENT (although the final sentence sounded VERY similar to what I typed)*** dEAth sux, itz tru.

However, this incredible game was mismanaged from the get (the git?) by Mythic. If any of you had the misfortune to actually listen to Carrie Gouskous (sp?) when she was given the reins, and were able to stomach an entire listening of it, then witness the assinine changes she authored (new... fkg... hairstyles...Waaagh?) and then had the second misfortune to read the 'closing letter' from the "devs" (who were not, by this time, the original group of developers) and the way she slapped all of us in the face with information that had been purposely kept from the community (by who's order I know not) and to see that literally years of time had been thrown in the garbage, and that the F2P model was FINISHED AND READY FOR DEPLOYMENT IN W.A.R.'s SECOND YEAR but purposely witheld, and how she presented with zero remorse and over the top candor AFTER resources had been siphoned for the W.o.H project failure, left many of us in shock and completely bereft of the spirit to even stomach the last week of live uptime.

I mean, those bastards, almost cheerfully, announced the game's light's off date ON THE 5th ANNIVERSERY of it's release. Callous shytes, to be sure. Make no mistake, dEAth's made it's fortune from these types of 'financial decisions' for decades -- and been voted the worst company in the WORLD to work for... twice in a row. No other company can 'boast' that. They also lost multimillions in class action taken on by the significant others of the EA developing staff (100 hour work weeks, 7 days a week, no vacation --serious sweat shop crap). You can bet whomever's still in the financial driver's seat wouldn't hesitate to batten down the hatches in a hot second if they thought they could make money by accusing some well-meaning individuals of defrauding them the POSSIBILITY of MAYBE making some more dough on the IP.

You can imagine the response their 'final notice' created in the passionate souls who lived this game for half a decade. And now, these wonderful people, out of a love for this IP and respect for those their currently, free of any charge, helping to entertain, and doing and incredible job at are being told how it's going to fail if a,b,c isn't done in such a way.

I think... no, these people are truly different: I know our devs, as a whole, know what's best for this IP, now and times to come. Please, unless they ask for it, leave ANYthing of financial nature TO THEM. I implore you, all of us: focus on whatever we can to aid them in their efforts. If there must be these suggestions, and talk of money always brings debates, please make them in PMs, or just not at all. I've watched the official Live forums erupt in necrotic ways that ultimately poison everyone's attitudes.

Can't we all just kick each other's asses and ENJOY simply being able to log in....

How many folks EVER get the chance to 'relive' part of their life WITH the knowledge gained from the lessons within? We are soooo fkg fortunate.

Sorry textwall.

Keeping 2 servers online in maintance mode with number of devs which can be count on one hand is still so unprofitable to keep the game alive? Hell, how much cost the GW licence for a year than?
Theyr invested money are also burried with Warhammer online. As a smart investors, they should rather start to think how to profit from the code they bought. A) sell licence B) give it to comunity for some reasonable monthly taxes C) revive it with grand fashion. A) and C) isnt realistic, but B) can be made somehow.
If I would be investor and spent lots of money in something, I would try to find anyway to recieve the money or the portion of it back, not burry them. It is has no logic. But thats me.
