Why is this Alpha so hardcore?

I started the alpha yesterday. Xp is ultra slow. Saw the posts about gear drops and how its .01%. God why is this so hardcore? Its alpha of an emulator. I know 3 people excited when they heard about the emulator downloaded it then realized that xp and gear was super hardcore and quit.

the xp isn't slow its the same as it was on the original servers

He's probably referring to quests..

Quests are mostly all broken atm, it's temporary

4 days ago, BEFORE the quests GOT BROKEN. They were all WORKING. The gear drop rate is low, because it's the top attainable gear for your max rank - it should be harder to come by no? Plus the bloody gear is already added into more mobs as a drop in the new db, just need for the server-side db to get updated.

The answer to your question is within the question itself - why might things be broken in alpha?

When the quests are working, leveling is really fast. Hell, it even is if you just do sc's and win.

Rolled an engi last night and am already rank 7 just doing SCs without quests. Killing mobs for gold. Life is good. This is War.

Besides from the bugged quests, the server is exactly like retain WAR was in terms of exp. I don't see the problem...?
