Crafting advice

So I just recently leveled my first toon to 40. His scavenging is around 185, and he is a str-based class. I also have a low-level toon (ranged dps) whose magical salvaging is around 92, and who I planned to be my primary salvager. Anyway, I read some posts about how it's usually best to have your main toon do the salvaging, so I wanted to just ask directly...would it be best for me to...

A. scavenge a bunch of high level mobs and stockpile the stuff, then change that toon's skill to salvaging? ...or...

B. just keep going the way I am and hope that I get enough "bind on equip" purple/gold strength items for my salvager to produce talismans for my main toon?
