Launcher Issue - Or Possibly just an idiot

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere... I really did look.

I've downloaded the client and RoRLauncher.exe, made sure RoRLauncher was in the main folder with War.exe, added exceptions to my antivirus and firewall, made sure read-only was not ticked etc. But I cannot get RoRLauncher to run.


If I've figured out linking images correctly, the above should show you the error message I'm getting. I have tried looking at the three files listed but it's double-dutch to me.

If I'm being stupid I will happily take any amount of abuse thrown my way as long as it is accomanied by advice on how to actually get this to run.

Not a lot of it makes sense to me, but i recognise d3d9.dll. so i'm going to latch onto the faint hope that it's a directx issue and see what i can do about it.
I'll let you know if it works.

Showing errors with .net framework and DirectX. Make sure they're up to date (can be updated through windows update), and download the latest DirectX, and install.

That would be the best place to start. If the game still crashes, try extracting the game files again.

Here's a shot in the dark, but I hope it helps:

See if grabbing the d3dx9.dll from here helps. Also, make sure you have the latest version of .NET Framework and DirectX.

Other than that, I'd say try redownloading the launcher if you haven't already.

Probably its not the _newest_ DX thats the problem, but missing old DX9 files. So i'd suggest getting some 9.0c download as well... And instead of downloading single .dlls (like Velux proposed) id rather get a complete DX9 pack.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've reinstalled .net 4.5 and am currently downloading 22 updates for it. once that's done i'll try installing dx 9.0c and make sure all the required dlls are present. if all that files i'll try re-extracting the client files.

Okay, so after doing all of the above plus re-downloading the client and launcher, same problem.

I'll leave it for a day or so until I figure out where I done goofed.

Just in case try downloading some Visual C++ Redist packs. Sometimes games/apps need those as well
