What tactic should I get from trees for Bg?

As I farm up my Bg to level 20 I looked over what tactics I get and all of them look lackluster except rugged so looking at mastery trees i can't decide which tree I should dump my points into for a second tactic

Mosterous ruin, terrifying foe and unstoppable fury all seem really good in my eyes so I thought I'd come here and ask for y'all's opinion

Depends if Terrible Foe is working imho

@ Azarael - I know other classes who have stat-contributing tactics in the 1st stage of the mastery tree don't see the bonus on their charsheet. This is even less direct - does this tactic work as intended on the server side?

Anything that is available in the mastery trees works.

For IC gor grinding parties, Monstrous Ruin is great. It's also good if you are dominating scenarios and can afford to play sloppy to pad your damage numbers.

Terrifying foe does work, and if you are trying to tank heroes it seems to help a bit. I've been a cheapo and kept that spec in scenarios and all I can say is, meh; you won't die, but that could just be Order dismissing you as zero threat/low priority.

As Telen said, if you want to "Nope!" detaunts, Unstoppable Fury is good. Of the three, I think it is the most effective at dropping high-priority targets.

Most of the time the are detaunting the Choppa, WE, Mara, SH, Megladonis or Sorc

I wouldn't blow half my tactics on default immunity tbh, especially since much worse than the damage you could inflict is the fact that even if they did default you they will still spend 5secs on the floor having new and interesting ways to bleed introduced to their r3ctum by the melee pain train

true but majority of detuants are AoE so it can affect you too, so then what do you suggest using xuan? terrifying foe?

Unstoppable Fury would be my choice as well. Paired with Rugged if going defensive, or with FO if going offensive in an easy SC just for the lolz (against real competition FO is a no-no).

Dark Blessings could be considered i guess if you have very few healers in your SC (or bad ones). For Keep champ/lord tanking, i would certainly use it.

In the end, i would use Closet Goblin and run different tactic/morale sets according to whar role i want to fulfill.

I won't be presumptuous enough to suggest there is only one way to play a class, especially one with as much versatility as the Blackguard. It would vary a lot dependant on your playstyle

E.g. Ulfv (sp?) and Zabis are excellent proponents of the Blackguard being played as an offtank. They may choose to run anti-detaunt and supplement the MA damage (as you say a couple of defaults are AoE, but not most)

Even if they were Strength stacked, running FO and anti default AND the enemy decided against targeting them (bcozTankLoL), they would suffer brutal guard dmg without dedicated heals

Frankly, between snare, taunt, challenge, knockdown (and knockback later), champs challenge, guard swap, AP drain, block/party debuff and and Armor Debuff, the BG Will have their hands full justd deploying guaranteed debuffs to worry over much about the dmg value, and it's not likely they get to the high 40f0's in Str

Still, double stacking Tou in tactics allows you to stack Are/WS on gear

This

plus the decent players will likely be using st detaunt on range and the aoe for melee.

Im always of the opinion in war the best defence is killing their healers first. (or at least make them panic abit)
