What’s the easiest role?
What’s the easiest role?
Been wanting to dip my toes into some group content, what’s the easiest role (tank, healer, mdps, rdps) to try? I’ve already tried healing out as a shaman in low level scenarios and it’s kinda fun, but I’m not sure if I like how stressful it is.

tanks probably easiest for new player

If healer is a bit too stressful, tank might be fun for you.

Re: What’s the easiest role?
Melee dps is pretty easy, a good played tank is by far the hardest job in a party.

Mdps, you take your hand and run it across a keyboard a few times a second.
Tanks and healers take thought and positioning.

Re: What’s the easiest role?
1. Healer - Runepriest / Zealot or Archmage / Shaman are straight-forward healing classes. Stand in the back, throw heals and resses on people and you'll be invaluable regardless of skill level and whether you're solo or in a group.
WP / DoK requires a little more finesse as they have a second 'mana' pool to manage, but they make up for it in tankiness. Also a fine first pick.
2. Ranged DPS - Magus / Engineer has the benefit of long range, requiring less precise positioning to stay out of harm's way.
Shadow Warrior / Squig Herder is more mobile, but has less range.
Bright Wizard / Sorceress is probably the hardest to play of the ranged DPS, lacking the long range of the Magus / Engineer, the mobility of the SW / SH and featuring a double-edged class mechanic that damages you. It makes up for it in burst damage, but since it requires group support and elaborate setups, I wouldn't recommend BW/ Sorc for new players.
3. Tank - While I regard tank as one of the hardest roles to excel at, a perk for new players is that they are hard to kill and thus more forgiving. Knight of the Blazing Sun / Chosen has very straightforward class mechanics that will be useful in all situations and is generally regarded one of the most new player-friendly classes out there.
Black Orc / Swordmaster are a bit tougher to play, but still fairly straightforward.
Blackguard / Ironbreaker has class mechanics that require a lot of micro-management. Definitely wouldn't recommend for new players.
4. Melee DPS - I wouldn't recommend any of the melee DPS classes for new players. They're very reliant on group support, and most new players won't be playing in the type of groups in which melee DPS shines. This class type tends to cause a lot of frustration and confusion for new players.
Witch Elf / Witch Hunter is an exception, being quite self-reliant. However for new players I think it's important to get involved with the group play that makes Return of Reckoning unique, instead of starting out with the lone wolf class.
This is just some advice. In the end what matters is that you have fun, so play what gives you the most fun experience.

Re: What’s the easiest role?
SnB tanking in a warband is incredibly easy, just make sure you have tether, use challenges and bellows and mechanic if you have.
2h tanking in 6v6 is probably most difficult thing in game though.

Re: What’s the easiest role?
DPS is the easiest. You assist on your main target or do blob AOE dmg. Very simple but ofc it has a high skill ceiling.
Healer is next, reaction time, positioning and correct use of your healing is essential. Has a higher skill floor to be a good healer but the skill ceiling is also lower than that of DPS.
Tank is the hardest. You've gotta guard your DPS, stay in range of all your group members to swap guard when needed. Knock down and punt tanks guarding your DPS's target. Use AoE snare and silence when appropriate etc. Rotate bellows and taunt. Tank is a generally easy job when viewed as just guarding, but to be a good tank you have a lot to do which is what makes it hard to do well.
Ofc this is a generalisation, there are exceptions to this and some classes are easier than others. E.G, Iron Breaker is the hardest to play of the order tanks, followed by Sword Master and then KOTBS. The core difficulty as mentioned above is still there, but some of these classes have more or less to them that makes them more or less complicated to play.
For a starter on order roles, I'd say MDPS White Lion, RDPS Bright Wizard, Tank KOTBS, Healer Rune Priest.
