Hello,

time for a new numbers break down. This time I downloaded around 125k ORVR kills of the last 10 days (21. - 31. August 2023) to see which careers and players are getting the most kills.

So, here are the results:

The data is from the killboard and getting a kill for a player/career means: most damage done to the target (it is not just the final deathblow hit like the enemies addon is counting it).

-> When it comes to raw killing power then choppas are leading with 15941 kills done (means the 260 choppa players did 15941x the highest damage to the target and got the kill).

-> When it comes to killing without dying then sorcs are the absolute masters with a kill/death ratio of 2.32 over all kills and deaths they had.

-> The weakest pure dps classes overall with the least kill contributions are Engineers and Magus.

-> This is over all t2+ ranks and players but ORVR only (no scenarios). To see what the best players of each career can do, look here (again, last 10 days only):

Looking at the players with top kills matches time players. Ie ppl online longer rather than kill power .

So without played time I kind of have issues with how the stats are being used here.

Could be worth trying to remove some of the top and bottom of the classes.
Last I did this I removed top 10 and only included those that killed at least a few (10 if I remember right)

That way you get to a closer grouping of players, but as said it’s an approximate as time played is a huge thing .
Also hard to normalize the numbers when grouping they are in is not clear, maybe only solo kills but once again this will reflect more choices of victims rather than class overall.
Y stats is hard to get right as they can look like saying one thing but actually they are swayed by something else underlying what you think.

I think the result is overall still valid. It's just a break down of the careers and players who did the most kills in that time period. Not more, not less. I think it is good enough to see the overall performance of the careers in orvr and their impact there. It's a rather small data set and more of a snapshot of how the current situation in orvr is. I did this on purpose, I wanted to catch the current situation and the direction in which the game has drifted.

Well, here is a thing, kills are not everything, fun is also very subjective.
I personally have more fun when I did a balanced sweaty fight - like keep defense, fort def, city etc, not pure RvR org WB stomp vs unaware pugs.
Also you dont always need kills to get things done, which is my opinion a real succcess.

Drawling more from stats is difficult as said before understanding what drives the numbers is key to how the numbers should be used.
When statistics used without consideration of causes you get to , “lies, bloody lies and statistics” as effectively the statistics are one thing and the claims that they represent are another.
In short be carful reading what ppl say the stats mean and what they actually mean.

That said it’s good you use real data and try to quantify things.

Why is that a problem? Premade warbands with the best support prefer the best dps classes to get the job done. The result reflects perfectly what they are preferring.

When all dps classes would be equally good and it wouldn't matter which you take into the warband then you wouldn't see the career with the most kills having 3x more kills than the career with the least kills. This reflects perfectly what people are looking for when setting up a warband for orvr.

Now what is the reason for that? Some dps careers must be performing a lot better than others. That can't be argued away and the kill break down shows that.

So basically what you're doing is proving that GTDC is absurd and should be thrown into the sun and that engie n magus most certainly shouldn't even be remotely considered for nerfing.

It's not like that.The whole warband works for the position of these players.When I played BW in two hours of game I had an average of 20 dbs in the defense of the fort or castle.In open rvr up to 10 dbs max.And when I play ENGI it's DBS "as little as possible" but the dmg in two hours of game which inflicted to enemies exceeded three times dmg BW

Interesting to see that the things most people have complained about for years (Choppa OP, Magus weak, Engi weak) turned out to be correct. Although I'm surprised Sorcs are THAT dominant. It was always known they're stronger than BW because of how resistances work and single target vs aoe but this is a bit shocking.
