Help with how to obtain armor sets

Hello, I am a new player (well not exactly, I played before but haven't played for many years) and I was wondering which is the best way to obtain good armor sets doing only RvR. I play sorcerer. I would like to avoid PvE unless absolutely necessary since I enjoy PvP more, but it's no problem if I have to.

Anyway, I have around 400 war crests, lvl 20 and RR35. What would be the best path to get good armor through all levels? Also, I have seen some sorcs with a "voidlord" or something with a similar name armor, but I can't find vendors that sell this armor. I know it is very high RR, but how do people get this?

Any help appreciated.

Don't spend your warcrests on 40+ pvp sets, they are not worth it. Yes, you are FORCED to do pve if you don't want to look like a fool having rr lvl for sovereign but unable to buy it because you wasted your warcrests on some 40+ useless sets (except for victorious/triumphant but its a different story).

At 40lvl you should do gunbad (free wards)+beastlord (set cloak+set jewelry for hobos). Then you go for city dungeons(its called BBBE for destro i believe) for sentinel set , bastion (BS) for bloodlord+bloodlord weapon. Both are practically mandatory because of set jewelry (sentinel) + bloodlord weapon. Then you can do HV if this set is interesting for you (you can skip it though if you are REALLY don't want to have a second set jewelry - still, you probably shouldn't).

And after all this stuff you are just saving all your warcrests until you hit 78 rr, buy your sovereign and you are king (there is a bit more, but at this point you will know it yourself).

At your current lvl, just buy whatever set you like from pvp set vendors in your capital city.

P.S. Try to check your faction's boss palace for high rr sets.

Thanks for answering, I still have a lot of questions.

Beastlord is an armor set, right? Does it drop in gunbad? Also, how do you get those sets while doing dungeons? Do bosses drop the set or do they drop tokens to exchange?

What is HV?

And is it hard to find groups for the dungeons?

I will make sure to keep my war crests until I have enough for sovereign.
Thanks again.

This is a comparison of all sets you can get:
  • top 2 lines are RvR/SC sets, you spend Warcrests on them,
  • middle line is Public Quests (PQ) sets, you spend War Tokens on them,
  • bottom line is Dungeon Path (6man instances) sets which you get either by getting pieces from bags, quests or drops.
Like people mentioned, its wiser to stack up Warcrests to be able buy last sets that are BIS and only purchasable, and spend either War Tokens or do Dungeons for middle road to renown rank 80.
Same you do with Weapons, most of time they are part of Dungeons - Sentinels, and Bloodlords.

Its worth to mention PQ and Dungeon sets has no RR requirement to wear it.

Thanks that's a very useful chart.

1. Beastlord is an armor set, right? Does it drop in gunbad? Also, how do you get those sets while doing dungeons? Do bosses drop the set or do they drop tokens to exchange?

2. What is HV?

1. Yes, it's an armor set. You can obtain it by doing 5 quests for armor set pieces + 1 quest for tokens. Quests for armor are located in the specific places in different locations, but usually someone in your group will be able to show you this place. Usually the group runs to this quest giver, then they are moving to kill quest's boss. Just ask them to show you those quests, just in case.

Last one is the quest for tokens, basically, "kill all those bosses" to obtain a token. You gonna need this tokens to buy the last set piece (book into your pocket), 1 token from this quest and a few more from the second quests (after you do armor piece quest, the same guy gonna ask you to do the second - kill 20 players of specific class, token is your reward, as far as i remember).

For a dungeon run you gonna need to pick dungeon quests first, city dungeon's quests are ussually around the dungeon's entrance. You need a quest for each set piece (almost, no quests for cloak or jewelry, it's a reward for dungeon's influence level). Basically, those quests are your guarantee that even if you loot zero armor pices from bosses, you WILL have a full set after a few (full) successful runs. And, since the jewelry/cloak are final influence rewards, you have to do those runs anyway (usually 4 runs, maybe 3 for sentinel, can't remember).

Ah, and don't forget about quest for soulstone (kill all important bosses in the dungeon) EACH time you are doing dungeon run. You can exchange this stone for a special talisman you can slot ONLY into your sentinel jewelry (thats why its mandatory to farm it, well, you can slot it into triumphator/victorious jewely too, but its endgame BiS part of equipment, forget about it for now) - like, for example, +4% crit chance. Each talisman has a timer (7 days), buy 1, slot it, buy a new one after it expires. Right, that's why people are doing dungeon runs even if they don't need this armor sets.

IMPORTANT - all armor drop from those bosses gonna look like it's armor for your class, even if it's not true, double check what are you actually trying to loot (NEED for your armor, PASS for the rest, unless you can salvage armor, the you can GREED them/

2. HV is just another dungeon, (entrance is in elliryon, if i recall correctly, its marked on the map, looks like portal made from vines). Pick your quests before you enter, 4 full runs for complete set, no dungeon infuence in this area. If you manage to complete the dungeon within 45 min, there will be a bit of extra reward, but its not really important),

3. Depends from your class/prime time. While you are leveling, you can check /5 (LFG) to see for yourself.
