Was 1.4.8 that bad?

I understand the vision of the server is to forge its own path and be different than the last live version 1.4.8 in Age of Reckoning. Since there are no servers anywhere that I know of running the last live version of Age of Reckoning would be so bad if this one became the only server that does have it? Preservation if you will of the game as we all knew it? I know amazing work has been done to make this server run as well as it does but cant both things exist at the same time? Last live version and a project for volunteers to work on for love of the game? I would hate to see this server go away completely. Anyway......thats all I wanted to say.

Yes it was bad. Well, scenarios were in a better state back then :^)

The biggest issue with 1.4.8 was the higher renown level gear blew the low level stuff out of the water. So much so that a character decked out in warp forged would demolish a group of fresh 40s. Also magus and engi were bad lol.

1.3.3 or 1.3.4 at sovereign level would be a pretty swift starting point though, with the right adjustment.

The dbz tier power levels of 100rr decked out characters propably had something to do with it

Well, the first iteration of sovereign sets was utter trash :)

All they had to really do, was keep the RR 80 tactic, and the RR 80 mastery point, and stop RR point abilities for points above 80 which they did. leave the class trees, and abilities as they were at 1.4.8 which even though they supposedly reverted back to the 1.4.8 patch here, they really didn't, as the class trees, and abilities etc were still not the same as live 1.4.8 .

They needed to tweak Magnus/Eng a bit as one of their biggest issues on live was low damage, long duration dots, that were easily healed through , As far as the big issues on live was that the classes were most balanced when RR 80 was the cap, when they added RR 100, and kept getting RR points to spend on abilities, as well as Warpforged Armor with it`s super high armor values, and stats is where the obvious imbalance was seen,

They even stated that back in 2016 that they learned from live, and would not introduce crazy high armor sets in ROR . but still the classes, trees, abilities are messed up. I remember back in all of 2016, through 2020 we had a population every weekend even in summer of 1100 to 1300 online, lately I mostly see 600 to 800 ish at most, a game built around RvR needs a healthy player base to be fun, we can`t afford to keep bleeding players.

Yes! Zealot's Having original Harbinger, Shield blorc Tree hit Combo, Crippling Strikes,Runefang, Mighty Soul, Sm Absorb Bellow/Resistance debuff STACKING with WoH. 100% dmg Morale 2. Not gonna mention everything but everything would be so much better 1.3.4. version vs RoR now. Faster gameplay 1.15s gcd.

There are Avoidance proc 2h's with taunt proc as well for tanks=) Who wouldnt want that? Actually powerful low lvl gear

Well, I don’t claim to have the knowledge and the history that many of you have of this game and it’s various iterations. :-) I simply want this server to succeed in whatever way that successes measured I would like there to be more players more gigantic, crazy battles, and more fun, whatever it takes to make that happen I am all for :-) perhaps once all the balancing is done we will be at a place where everyone can find enjoyment.

It lacked many QoL features and the gear gap was gigantic, but campaign-wise and orvr-wise it was better.
