[RvR][Renown matters] Fighting ... - Lesson learned - You MUST be ranked up in Renown !

I've posted about fighting an AFK Knight of the Blazing Sun and explaining how I couldn't even damage him.

Yesterday I was on my lvl 13 Warrior Priest doing one of the zones ( the one with the boat) and met up with ...

So I was like Renown Rank 7.
At the time of course I had not clue what level Rev or what his Renown rank might have been ( It's 22)..

So I proceed to fight and learn to Get Gud at doing some PvP.. I figured I was ready.. I had my keys set up.. Small space on the boat to fight so no not much crazy stuff going on. Just me and him.. Nice solo fight..

Well at first ... ran around a bit because I am guessing he has no clue who I am and my potential.
Then at some point he realized, this guy isn't hurting me..
So he just stood there.
After a good minute I realized I couldn't do anything.. I laughed and I picked up the crate and just ran off with him just standing there, probably laughing back as well.

If I didn't understand clearly before with the Knight of the Blazing Sun incident. I realized completely yesterday..

You really, really, really, really need to be ranked up in Renown to be anything remote effective in RvR..

I will say this.. There should be some sticky or clear explanation on the boards or forums about the super necessity of being ranked.
Again I get it.. But this stuff is just super important and vital.

The game boast that you can jump right into RvR at level 1 for example but the real reality is you are cannon fodder against a rank Renown player.. Which again makes sense.. But I am sure ... could have taken on a few Smiteyee WP yesterday at the same time..

This is not a 1v1 game and it is not balanced for such environment. Not to mention that the game is balanced for lvl 40, the biggest disbalance is indeed on lower tiers.

I am starting to see that.. Again not a gripe.. But I realize I just need to camp out on the RvR zone and continue to build up my Renown.

Also keep in mind that before career rank (lvl) 40, your renown rank only grants renown points (to allocate in the renown trainer) up until the career rank you have.

In the above example:

• CR = 13, RR = 7 --> effective RR = 7

• CR = 13, RR = 22 --> effective RR = 13

The above is the reason behind the player rule of thumb of having a Renown Rank at least as high as your Career Rank at all times.

So if I understand this, are you saying that Rev though he was Renown 22, the most he could BENEFIT was up to Renown 13?

If I am misunderstanding, is there max benefit for your level ?

A very big game maker/-breaker in T1 is gear. Your opponent had pretty big talismans on every slot, with every armor slot also filled. Considering he is so invested in gear, I'm going to guess he is also using potions. Also looking at your gear you're propably not. This means he propably has like twice the stat points compared to you, and also a lot of armor, which means with simple detaunt and couple of heals he will outheal your damage.

Also, 2 healers fighting each other rarely results in a death.

As I received an inbox message regarding me naming Rev and such.

To be clear I meant no offense to the player behind Rev..
I wasn't accusing anyone of doing something wrong or cheating or to stir up any drama.
I was just trying to understand the game mechanics and what matters.

I clearly insulted myself in this post and my lack of understanding. I was just trying to paint a clear picture to get some real and clear answers.

don't be too upset, you weren't naming/shaming. Surprised anyone said anything as it is obvious you were asking for help and understanding.

Keep playing the game, it starts to come together around 10-12, then you will be lost again around 16, and should start to figure it out around lvl 28
