[Magus] Completely new to the game.

So, I decided to give this game a spin but it is one of those classic cases of 'game doesn't explain a lot' so was wondering what steps I should take. Currently I am on level 11 with Renown 11 I think.

I heard that you need to focus on RvR or the Scenario stuff for grinding level/Renown and the tokens for gear.
Is that true? Should I focus on running scenarios over other stuff? Cause at least for now RvR for me felt like a lot of running all over the place without much action/exp.

At that rank I would do mostly scenarios cause they are still fun in mid tier with some rvr in between.
I would lvl up with the mid tree aoe dam cause its strong in mid tier scs if the enemy team dont have to many healers.

People tend to be very cautious with how they engage in RvR right now because you can die very quickly in the current meta, so that's probably why you're seeing less action.

Switching from T1 to T2 was very jarring as scenarios became brutal and one sided, and RvR isn't being that great either. Guessing you basically drag your ass to RvR and hope for the best to get the RR exp?

Also I did get the Keeper set, which put me in an awkward spot as now I am level 17 (I think) and 16 RR. And even with the RR gain booster I am not sure how to get RR ahead of levels. Is there a particular way to slow down level exp gain and push RR ahead?

Probably the simplest is to join rvr, and spam aoe on everything- Glean Magic/ Pandemonium, and the Infernal Blast/ Daemonic Lash when close enough. Remember btw that you can use most of Changing abilities on the move, even if they have a cast time.

About RR in general, you don't need to worry about it so much. As long as by lvl 40 you get rr43 or so, you can use 3 parts pvp set (conq/vanq, or domi)- boots+ gloves which you can buy off auction house so they don't cost crests, +belt which is the cheapest part. And mix them with some pve set.

Ah, I see. I was thinking of path of havoc, but I am guessing path of changing is just overall better than due to the multiple aoes?

Havoc is a single target burst tree, works for bursting targets in scenarios or for solo roaming. For mass rvr, yep you want as much aoe as possible.

One more advantage, Havoc is elemental, and your elemental debuff comes from (immobile) pet. While Changing is spirit, and your spirit debuff is Gleam- available on the move, no cd, and aoe.

Also, when you need a single target dmg, Gleam followed by SoI when off cd and Rend spam works, though not as good as Havoc.

1. There is a quest that gives you 4 pots increasing renown for 72 hours by 25% for free in ork capital. Take a look here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m7K ... it?tab=t.0 (however guidance there is pretty awful and full of riddles, but just ctrl+f, put "renown" and find a part for gods know why called Taugrek the throttler, if in trouble you can just ask in-game, from the openned quest tab you can shift click on a name of the quest to share it in game chat, but whoever is online will know what you mean anyway)

As i twink i tend to use them much closer to cr40 mostly during weekend warfronts in a group of friends or then i have proper orvr sessions. But in your case as a completely new player i'd advice to use them asap (ie then you have most playtime to fully benefit those 72 hours)

2. There is no way to slow down exp gain, it was sadly, cruely and stupidly taken away from us (there was a scroll that reduce xp gain by 75%, at the moment it only does so in pve). So the only option is to join pug warbands and do oRvR until your eyes start to bleed, this way you will level out "properly" in current meta. Good thing is that on organised levels game is different to the much better.

3. Follow what Zxul said, due to rewards mechanics tagging everything and contributing into each kill by aoe gives most gains in your case. Keep in mind that RR gains are tied into kill contribution and most benefits are distributed into a party which did most kill damage. So if your gains are low then either you or your party mates are doing wrong (=there are other strong DPS who are reaping all the benefits in your warband doing more kill damage).

I will take a look on the quests, I think someone made an entire video showing the location of the potion quests so I might give it a watch later on.

And yeah been working on the RvR stuff, sucks that so many warbands have bots auto kicking you, leaving you in this weird cycle of 'you need to level to be able to join those warbands but at the same time they don't let you in to get the exp'. As I am around level 22ish now, might look into the mayhem set as you can apparently get it through PCs.

Guessing after mayhem the next step would be the ruin set, right?
