I've been considering playing on the server, but I'm actually a bit curious as to how the game intends to handle the content once it all runs out. After every ounce of content that was in live is available in the private server... what happens then? You can't create new dungeons, raids, classes, races, etc..., can you?
I understand that the same is similar for WoW private servers, but at the very least the group can move on to the next expansion. WAR wasn't updated very long, in the grand scheme of things, and doesn't have nearly as much content.
I'm just curious what happens after the final content is dropped. Does it reset?
What happens when the old live content runs out?

Hmmm, maybe move on to a new game after that long?

Eh, maybe it's just me, but that's not the best answer. I enjoy devoting myself to one game at a time, knowing that it's not going anywhere. Usually this is the case (WoW, FF14, WildStar, etc...)dkabib wrote:Hmmm, maybe move on to a new game after that long?
I just know that Warhammer only had a handful of content patches. I can see that being burned through fairly quickly, and after that happens... everyone just leaves? We call it a day?
Re: What happens when the old live content runs out?
When the live content runs out, archaon invades and all our chars get transferred to a new game, Warhammer: Return of the Sigmarines.
In it, the balance is even worse, the lore is stupid but hey, if you rp as a fatman with a moustache, you get +1 on your crit rolls.

Re: What happens when the old live content runs out?
Once old live content runs out the only things left to do are:
1) Commiting 99% to making an interesting RvR system
2) Use the 1% left to balance factions/classes
In PvP games, players are the content. With a good RvR system you can enjoy this game for very, very long.

Re: What happens when the old live content runs out?
Well Warhammer only lives while there are enough players for RvR action. And I will play it as long as it remains fun. I hope after T4 comes in, the devs may find a way to implement Forts and City sieges.
I'd love to see forts making a comeback!

Sylvania. It was a instance for 40+ that was cut from the game (when T5 was supposed to exist).

Re: What happens when the old live content runs out?
Currently, we have no patching system, so we have no way to distribute new art assets to clients, or change existing assets. We also cannot access/change the client code. Even though it's just a glorified renderer and asset database, any changes we make are limited by being required to work with the client as it existed in 1.4.8. This prevents us from doing some things, like optimizing code.
Can we rebalance classes? Yes.
Can we create "hard mode" dungeons? Yes
Can we create new quests? Yes
Can we create new public quests? Yes
Can we create new live events? Yes
Can we change the RvR system? Yes
Can we change the way different scenarios are played? Yes
Can we change the location of RvR lakes in a zone? Maybe
Can we change how city fights work? Maybe
Can we add new content? I would be very painful (for you).
Can we add the Dwarf/Greenskin cities? Never. (The assets are not in the client)
Adding new content would require that we...

Adding new content would require that we...
- Unpack the art MYP archives
- Design and add the new assets. Pray that the client can render them without issue. I don't know how we would do either.
- Update the client's internal asset DB
- Repackage the new MYP archives
- Require every player to re-download the updated client.
