new player here, help me to choose a class

Hi, first off I want to say I've never played WAR before. I did play DAoC, GW2 and ESO and always played with warrior-paladin-templar-cleric-shaman archetypes. So I prefer sustained damage and high survivability over being a glass cannon. And I also enjoy solo roam and 1vX fights. If you ever played ESO, templar and dragonknight was my favoruite class.

In here, knight and warrior priest looks promising to me. Looks like they are a bit group depended but I read somewhere warrior priest is also good for solo but that was a post from 2012. I'm wondering if it is still same here.

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Warrior priest and blazers are mostly for grouping. Warrior priest has been before good at soloing but not for the current moment, they're more going in group with 1-3 players rather than just their own. Blazers are most wanted.

I suggest you lvl up two of your most wanted classes to lvl 12 and then decide what you're gonna go for and not listen what the forums has to say regarding this topic.

no on dps warrior priest. no gap closers or root break. You will never enjoy solo roam, and duels are hard to find.

there's no real DK class in this game. I know in gw2 and eso you could pvp with heavy armor etc but not in the playstyle you are looking for here. I played daoc as well and would say engi, shadow warrior or maybe white lion you will enjoy the most based on avoiding squishie classes, but having ability to do some damage. Bright Wizard, slayer and witch hunter will not be what you want.
Word of Pain and Boiling Blood are no longer able to proc anything. The Bright Wizard College has confirmed this is a big deal. (stealth nerf)

Thanks people. I'm actually a bit disappointed for what you said. I really like the idea of being a dps/tank hybrid and smash faces with it in 1vX fights. I guess I've played too much eso & gw2 :)

Take the DMG/survivability with a grain of salt here. I'd advice you just pick one of the tank classes and go into a damage (two-handed weapon) spec with it ASAP (:. Dwarf Ironbreaker's a good choice (if you like tagging a buddy who gives you Grudge points for every time he gets hit), or perhaps you're more into a Swordmaster, actually (even though they're a bit in need of an update). The swordmaster starts out as the most damaging of tanky classes due to their greatswords and spirit damage and might be just what you want.
