This is going to deter new players.

I know some newer players have been asking if the server is always this laggy.

It's sad to answer with a honest yes at peak times.

The lag has gotten worse and worse. The server peaked at 750 and ever since that moment the server during prime time has been swirling to its doom.

Let's hope the devs find a solution soon. I hate that new players are being turned off by the server lag and may never stay.

We need all the people we can get when t4 rolls around.

It's great to see 600+ people online but is it really worth it when the server is unplayable and just scares people off because of the lag.

Edit - I guess people don't understand that a lot of people will write the server off whether it's in alpha or not because of lag. You can say what ever you want "It's free" "Let them leave we don't need them in this community" all you want. Doesn't change the fact that we are going to need people to have good RvR action in t4.

If these "Toxic" people start telling other possible future RoR players that the server is terrible that's bad for everyone.

If those players can't be assed to understand that this is an alpha, we're better off without them. It's says everywhere during the signup in big giant McHuge graphics that this is an ALPHA.

The type of person that throws a tantrum over server lag in an alpha is toxic to a community, and should be shunned, not coddled.

I understand that it's a alpha. To some people that doesn't matter and to write new players off as "toxic" for not wanting to deal with lag is just absurd.

I honestly don't blame them. I do my part and quest / report bugs but when the server becomes laggy whether it's alpha or not I don't want to stay online and keep reporting bugs.

The point of the alpha is to test things when the server is dying everyday at peak time not much testing is getting done by anybody.

The majority of my play time and questing has to take place at 1-3am in the morning USA time when less than 400 people are online because that's the only time the lag is gone.

Patience is your best friend. I just started on the server and as I understand from others I've played with on live, this is nothing compared to what it has been.

Thanks RoR.

^/agree

It's Alpha,it's free, did I mention it's Alpha and Free?!?! Lag sucks...we all hate it but there is a Dev Diary post that maybe you missed. The following is an excerpt:

"LAG

This growing population has resulted - as you are more often the witnesses - to generate a phenomenal lag as we get closer to the current server cap. We are very aware of this, share your concerns, and resolving this issue has moved to the top of the priority list.

The original core of RoR was not designed to host so much concentrated action, and many pieces must be recoded. This will take some time. Several new mechanics have been introduced during the past year, and we need to put all of this on the table to make it more enjoyable. We have taken steps to trace where we are losing performance and make corrections as needed. Unfortunately, some of the best times for development to track down these issues, is right at peak times when everything is struggling. We appreciate your patience with this."

So yea they are aware and don't need the flack or extra flack they are getting because of a known issue.

its a FACT, the more threads we open about the lag issues, the faster devs will solve it!

So carry on my brothers, soon there will be enough single threads about this single issue to get it solved!

I rather have players around who are patient and understand what "alpha phase" means.

Those who love this game will stay and there will be enough when we get t4. More and more players keep coming. Three things i am worried about:
- annoying kids who want everything free and now
- hardware issues
- legal issues

If there are any new players reading this, fixing the lag is the TOP priority for the devs. Yes it's annoying to deal with but I promise you this game is still very playable in it's current state. All we can do is wait patiently for the fix and report as many bugs as we can.

IF they can't deal with it then they should come back in a year. A big part of alpha and beta testing is server stability. Which is why if you have ever been apart of a beta/alpha in an MMO you would notice they do quite a bit of stress testing on their servers. These devs are amazing and will have this issue fixed fairly soon.
