Bomb Groups

I played WAR from release until the server closed and am looking for some other veterans input as well. This isn't a flame at Order or Destro, I believe both sides are taking advantage of the bomb group premade EZmode just as much as the other.

My question or concern is: Were bomb groups always this ridiculous, or is this due to where we are stuck at the game right now at t2/t3 lvls without RVR gear.

Everywhere I go, whether its Destro/Order, its the same group make-up BW/Sorcs double guarded with dedicated healers running into WB's or holeing up at one spot or another spamming AOE heals/pboe.

Granted I was dedicated to pretty much one main toon on live, I never really remember these groups being that abundant in T4. I remember the first 6 months with magnet/rift they were running rampant, but after a heavy nerf I never saw them it was mostly melee balanced groups.

its a variety of factors, the main one being where we are at this point in the game, not enough rr for resists, or TB n stuff

furthermore many people dropped gear for sentry and enchalon stuff which dosnt have many resists

Also, tanks are missing important level 40 ability called "Immaculate Defense". Mythic created this morale to allow small groups to survive zerg aoe damage.

Granted, this ability can also make bombing groups even more OP, but at least opposing group would have a chance to get to the back lines and take out the healers.

Bomb groups were used for the first time just a few weeks after the GTAoE stacking nerf (Rain of Fire/Pit of Shades)...I still remember how the BWs in my guild came up with the idea - they saw it on some video from russian server - and our guild was one of the first ones to use this tactics on our server. After that , it was always the most popular style at least until the skaven expansion.

Basically an organized bombing warband in a good position could always melt through an unlimited number of random players. IIRC, order had a bit better damage and AoE stagger (KotBS) but destro had better utility (marauder and magus pulls, SH with CD increase), so it was all rather balanced...

aoe and dot stacking nerf tamed the bombers grupes a bit

We don't even have Close Quarters yet (25% more damage in short distance) ;)

that was nerfed to 15% across the board

Bomb groups were far more ridiculous than they are now.

my question: Does Warhammer even need aoe dmg? How about deleting any aoe skill but introduce more and longer forms of cc and aoe cc, even non breakable ones?

i remember daoc having long ccs bot no or only few aoe dmg spells wasnt it? ttk will be higher but group play will be more important and dmg will be much better balancable.

problem was patch 1.2

resistance cap


Resistances
-Magic resistance over 40% will now experience diminishing returns. Players will receive less resistance per point of stat over the cap
-Resistances that have reached diminishing returns will be displayed in Orange text on the character sheet


after of 1.2 bomb squad get very populars.
