When WAR came out, it was a lot more interactive, had a lot more options that influenced a person's game play. I was thinking on them over my morning cup of coffee, and was wondering if they could be brought back.
1- Repairable gear and weapons.
Broken gear and weapons used to drop from mobs (and not sure but maybe players as well?) that you could repair at a vendor and use.
2- INF in SC's.
If you played an SC, you got INF for kills just like in the lakes. If you were in (example) in T3 and you played an EMP/CHAOS SC (example; Battle for Praag) you got EMP/CHAOS t3 INF. If you played an Elven SC you got ELF/DARK ELF INF.
3- NEW (Not from old WAR) Idea;
A Salvage Button at all Vendors, that allows players to break down old equipment they have outgrown for frags. The frags can be then mailed to one of their alts that does talli making and they get a tali for which ever of their toons they want.
THIS would definitely solve the problem of 900 to 1200 Gold charged for a +20 talisman!

Re: Retro WAR
I don't see any problem with 1 and 2, 2 specifically I think scenarios should be re-implemented into the ORvR campaign like it was originally on live... but not to the point where scenarios where so important people got mad at pugs for queing up or people stopped queing so they wouldn't lose.
3 I don't see how this will solve anything, purple items are the only things that will give you frags worth anything and you can sell them on the AH for pretty much what they would be worth if you turned them into a talisman. Also this would make salvaging moot.

Re: Retro WAR
I dislike salvage at vendors, since it would remove alot of the reason to spend the damned time making your own salvager... But it would be nice.
If you put inf back in SCs, I think you would need to tie them to the zone's again, which was a giant clusterfuck. Have a feeling you can't just add inf to an SC unless it is tied to a zone, i could be wrong. I do not want to HAVE to queue for SCs for a lock, and honestly INF is pretty easy to get. Not to mention the Devs(and me!) seem disinclined to make changes that directly lessen ORvR in favor of SCs.
The repairable was strange. I thought it was just a system to ensure that you got a drop for your class, instead of the random it is now? or am I wrong on that? Early Live was a long time ago, and I don't remember repairable being around for long.
I want the old beach BO in nordland. The one in the little cave that used to cause some of the best t1 fights.
I would like SCs to be tied to what tier you queue in, with a weekend deal for rotations.
I REALLY want the lowered gains from XP/RR due to recent death. Stop all this pointless WC camping. I understand it in t1 or t2 at times, but seriously? WB zerg v Wb zerg at WCs constantly gets really old. And killing the same nub 15 times in 5 minutes shouldn't provide full XP/RR/INF/gear.

What if salvaging gear at a vendor cost gold? Say 2 gold for t1 gear, 4 gold for t2, 8 gold for t3 and 12 gold for t4?
I did not like having SC's play a role in a zone lock, it really screwed things up. It would have to be a better system (like you said) than what Mythic had created!
As for the INF rewards in sc's that is just a way for people who prefer to play SC's can also get INF rewards and not have to play the "Wait for my realm's zerg to start" game!

Can people get scenario-exclusive items (that is, emblems) at the same rate in the lakes as people'd get influence in scenarios?drmordread wrote:As for the INF rewards in sc's that is just a way for people who prefer to play SC's can also get INF rewards and not have to play the "Wait for my realm's zerg to start" game!

Re: Retro WAR
why not trade items for potions at vendors? at least armor potions? would make these gathering skills pretty useless too.
I mean: salvaging on your main is actually preventing you from cultivation on semi-auto-modus...why give these people a kick in the ass?
You dont even need to use pruple 30+ items for 22, in case you dont know anything about how crafting works, so the argument of the price of boundless weapons is not even valid
