Just asking if I can make a suggestion

for the very far future in RoR.

I'm asking this because the first and last time I did this in AoR it's when it all went very wrong. It seemed like the devs did gave my suggestion more than just a tought, we got Return to Ekrund and ouch, blame the Nid for what followed.

What is your suggestion? Is it if you can make a suggestion or are you asking about Return to Ekrunds return?

You are free to make any suggestions you want. However, making a suggestion does not mean it will be implemented. It does mean that RoR staff will most certainly read it, they may not acknowledge it, and expect to receive feedback and criticism from the community.

Hmm, interesting, you're saying a suggestion made by you to the old Mythic developers led them to create the Stronghold Saga event? I wonder what your suggestion was then ^^

If your potential power of suggesting is so strong that it might ruin the game, I'd be careful with it. But you have all the freedom in the world to make whatever suggestion you see fit, especially if it creates something as inventive as the Stronghold Saga event.

I'm not saying it actually did as we only had the first part of the expected four ones but ...

Anyway,

My suggestion back then was to implement rare or unique "items", a feature existing for more than 2 decades in Pk muds. It could be a weapon, piece of equipment, jewelry, whatever, something that gives a real bonus, advantage to the player wearing it and through that to his/her realm.

A unique is only 1 item in game on the server.
Rares could be a couple of them around on the server or none depending on lost, decay over time whatever.

The difficulty is to have a "waterproof" template so that rares and uniques regulary switches sides and avoid having them on storage.

I'm not going into details as you folks, staff, have other priorities but it's an idea that could be kept noted somewhere.

As far as I'm aware, Mythic simply had no more time left to implement the later planned parts of the event. Their contract with ownership of Games Workshop IP ran out, and Games Workshop sold the license to SEGA to make Total War: Warhammer, instead of renewing their 5 year contract with EA after they messed up Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning so badly. They had a lot of awesome stuff planned for the Stronghold Saga, all of which was pulled right underneath their asses again as with the game's release.

Oh god, the flashbacks. I had forgotten that period of my life.

I think this could be a neat idea, but we would reserve the hell out of it for a series of live events, probably. Real live events, not "lol hey here's some themed quests." There's plenty of powerful artifacts in the Warhammer universe that would work for this, but I'm not sure it would be good for the balance of the game to have these kinds of things regularly floating around. They likely couldn't cross factions for lore reasons - wouldn't want a bright wizard running around with the Eye of Sheerian, for example.

a unique weapon that everyone int eh same class can have at the same time? not very unique then.

A time gated "special item" that only 1 person per Race can hold? now that sounds interesting..

But what, on earth woudl the trial be in order to get it? and how to make a fair way to get the item instead of the 100's of others who play your class.

Maybe like an Achievement, You Clear a specific Goal in RvR or whatever It might be, you are promted with a "The Gods Smile upon you and give yout he Gift of ***" which could then provide an alternate appearance and a "boon/buff" that last for x amount of time with a strong Cooldown on it, like maybe 1 Full Day. If possible, making this only obtainable by 1 member of each Race at a time, until the Time limit runs out and they are placed on the Long lockout.

Iwas trying to think of what these specific Goals would be, but I dont really know what would be a good option, like one class could have a goal based on solo or DeathBlows. Honestly no clue what would be a good idea for any of the classes, but it sure sounds like a cool, and very enjoyable Idea.

Do it like SWG and the original Jedi quest.

Make a lot of seemingly random requirements for each race, and tell no one.

Tie it into tome unlocks, boss kills, RvR kills, everything, and if possible make it slightly different for every career and then release a weapon for each career over time, maybe even additional weapons tied to events.

There is a lot of stuff you could draw on and use from the core game to make a weapon unlock system. There is so much lore, and fluff in the game to use, it is in fact staggering to think about at times.
