sacrifice build. that's the spec i would recommend to run right now bc when going torture you will give up way to much utility and damage just for an healdebuff. Devour Essence is the best ability the DoK has and the most important cooldown. Giving it up for whatever reason is dumb (my opinion). should be self explaining at all. the reason why i took Sanguinary Extension over Warding Strike can be found above.
Can you pls explain why devour essence is so good? Essence lash gives you lots of SE too and its not hard to manage them. I suppose it's for the AP drain. I never used this ability but to me it just seems mediocre. I would be thankfull if you could explain

Burst DPS, heals, can put it on a target that needs heals, can combine it with rend soul for very effective healing.

ehh... Devour Essence has nothing to do with the ability described by you, this is Pillage Essence. try to read the tooltips again.

Pillage Essence is an great ability. Decent AP costs (30) and the DoK's highest hitting ability besides Wracking Agony (once your target is below 50%). While Wracking Agony is a pure damage ability with an requirement, Pillage Essence includes both a buff and a debuff. Buff in terms of the SE, debuff in terms of AP.

To sum it up: Most likely you won't spec Torture right now when playing DPS DoK. Hence Pillage Essence is definitely your highest direct damage ability (23% more TTP than Transfer Essence). Both the buff and the debuff are an nice addition to round up the ability.

In T4 you will be able to pick one: WA or PE. You can't have both. As a pure damage focussed DoK i'd clearly stick with Wracking agony since it provides 37% more raw tooltipp damage if the target is below 50%. Also the additional mastery points in Torture will synergize with the abilities you are going to use.

That doesn't mean Pillage Essence will fall off or become bad. The ability will be as good as it is right now but it is more likely designed around support if compared to Wracking Agony. If you want to use Transfer Essence as your anytimer and provide more heal support for your group, the mastery points in Sacrifice will scale well and Pillage Essence provides both additional SE (which is mandatory for supporting) and high damage + AP debuff.

The paths are about equal and perfectly designed. One makes you a real dps with an HD and an finisher, the other one grants you more support and sustain damage.
