Did the timer solve a shiz on live? Nopes, it didn't.
As already stated in the topic. If someone is xrealming to the winning side, he will be locked there for hours, so he WILL stay at the winning-side for that time.
Way to go, ruining the balance even more.

Re: X-Realming Counter
yeah timer good idea. You could always put it like if you log into an order character, you cannot log into destro for 30min to an hour. As a means to stop xrealming and have real good fought battles
Re: X-Realming Counter
Personally, being able to play on both sides actually is cool stuff. I mean, why the hell not? However, x-realming is kind of a nuisance. Maybe instead of trying to create an official resolution, let's go with good, old communistic tactic?
Sell your friend x-realmer with enough evidence - get a reward. X-realming is gamebreaking, thus breaking the game equals an exploit. Why not play a little bit of countermeasure with players themselves?
A person caught x-realming would get a hefty debuff, just like the resurrection sickness. But not for mere 2 minutes. 2 hours rather.
Call me cruel, call me all you want, but this could actually work. People nowadays will do a lot for a shiny trinket.
I call 30 silver per head from my personal treasury for every x-realmer caught

Re: X-Realming Counter
You think, only because you prevent someone from switching sides, you will get good fought battles? Sorry, you're mistaken here, since we're dealing with humans. And those are taking the way of the least resistance.Mithdraz wrote:yeah timer good idea. It's rewarding to stomp the weak side? Then they'll do it.
Re: X-Realming Counter
I rest remember when i played war before shutdown, getting stomped still gave its experience, but was part of the game. Since every ones been on both sides. Some will still defend the losing battle, some will rage quit, etc. x realming just makes its more and more 1 sided it seems. Happened today in Tier 2, destro was getting rolled and they chatted they all will just xrealm, what you know it a few minutes later 0 resistance, another warband of order pops up and helps steam roll 3 keeps in all zones.Luicetarro wrote:You think, only because you prevent someone from switching sides, you will get good fought battles? Re: X-Realming Counter
Lockouts are not always a good solution, as pointed out it creates lopsided battles that lead to complete dominance and boredom. Incentives for the less populated team will do more for you then a lockout.
Re: X-Realming Counter
Doing pvdoor is boring and gives atrocious rewards. You'd get 1 gold bag per keep take only and very little inf. And with several warbands your chance of getting the bag shrinks even more. While orvr is heavily number based, a lot of people are just plain bad and don't know how to defend keeps t2 and up. I've tried spamming order in t2 multiple times while on destro and no one listens and then u just wipe. If people tried getting better and followed the wb leader things could happen.Mithdraz wrote:I rest remember when i played war before shutdown, getting stomped still gave its experience, but was part of the game. I dislike the stigma against xrealmers tbh. Because most people lump together those who switch toons in the same tier, and those who jump from their t1 order to their t2 destro just to keep on lvling.
Re: X-Realming Counter
In the old version, you couldnt have both order and destro on the same server. This rule worked until devs decided to give end game gear away like candy and letting level 10's win it etc. yeah you may lose a battle, but even a small group can def a keep, i was in T2 yesterday with a full warband and when we bust down the front door they came behind us and ganked us and killed a ton of us. So losing a keep isnt all that bad when you get a lot of kills. Its just like scenarios you win them you lose them, but you always get experience from them. plus if Orvr is "too" one sided, coordinate with you side in chat more or pve/scenario. The game is suppose to allow you to enjoy a lot of its features.

Re: X-Realming Counter
40 minutes will atleast stop ppl from swapping and going defens when an attack is about to fail. I'd be happy with 15 minutes with the current system.
Re: X-Realming Counter
Whatever happened to the "yet another xrealming thread" comments right after the first post? As hostile those sound, they'd be likely still more helpful than letting them run their course... again. With the exact same things brought up.
All of this has been discussed, many times before, with the same ideas, arguments and attitudes. Sadly, even the OP's idea, which is different from the usual restrict/punish/shame approach and is a welcome change at least, has been brought up and discarded: as pointed out even in this thread, it'd be highly exploitable or not accomplishing its intended goal at all.
The problem with any kind of lockout is the implementation, specifically there isn't a practical one available. Feel free to search the forums for the whys and hows.
RvR mechanics specific to T4 that may encourage/discourage crossrealming might be the only topic that'd merit talking about. Then again, many of the problems with even that are older than it seems some people realise. For instance, that players have a strong preference for keep defense and will come out of the woodwork for them didn't appear only after the bag rewards for that were introduced...
Unless of course someone actually manages to come up with a new idea.
