My wife and I are both diehard players. We take turns using the computer in the theater room. I sometimes log in via my home office computer. When I'm super lazy or need to be mobile, I play on my 2-in-1. Sometimes she plays on her own laptop. We share computers, and, of course, an ISP/IP address.

While we understand the need to cut down on "spying," the changes discussed in this thread would penalize those of us who are legit.

I don't see a separation of faction like the OP has expressed. I think that right now, everyone is just used to the it is and to make it happen would probably be worse for the game than good. Actually I wouldn't mind to experiment with multi-faction scenarios. The new possibilities for unique battles could be fantastic... ie chosen + sorc + dok VS BG +WE + Dok.... but I digress.

But, I think there is a need to reduce some of the too easy rewards that can be gained from quickly changing factions to capitalize on the situation concerning the Zones ownerships. While one faction is about to cap your abandonment at the last fight could indeed be the reason that the last defense is defeated rather than a successful defense. THat was a very common theme at keeps, for example.

I suggest that after a realm swap you might have a debuff to not gain Renown for 1 hour.

Just curious, did you encounter any problems in other MMOs? I know some people who got banned in some games due to "multiaccounting violation" while playing on the same IP as the rest of the family. Unfair accusation, but still it happened with quite fatal (for accounts) results.

I played EQ from '99 to '08 and was able to three-box from the same IP without issue (SK/Shammy/Wizard). As for WAR, I had two accounts and never had an issue. One of my RL friends took a liking to WAR but didn't want to start from scratch. Sometimes he'd stop by and play my Destro toons while I was played Order, and vice-versa. Same IP.

For each game I found that as long as I didn't violate the Eula, I never even received a warning. (In other words, as long as I paid them and kept out of trouble, no problem). Now, it could be that other MMOs are different. In both of these games; though, I was in guilds that had players who were married. I can't recall them ever getting penalized in any way, much less banned.

Personally, I'd have no problem with a timed lockout for switching realms. And this is coming from someone who plays both realms equally. I understand why we can't really do that now, but long-term, I think it will help. Nixing cross-realm PMs/Say/Mail/etc., IMHO, also would go a long way toward not only slowing the sharing of intel, but improving the civility of our community. Far too often I see certain players in SCs attacking players from the other realm verbally because they get killed. But not just "attacking" -- Pouring it on, SC after SC, day after day. Every other day, I have "hate mail" from a certain opposite-realm player waiting in my Inbox. I don't remember anything like this in the original. But that's a topic for another thread. ;)

Wife and I just got married in September, and she had never played a video game in her life prior to RoR. I am pleased to announce she's now helplessly hooked. This once-mellow angel now goes postal when she dies.
