Ram Mechanic Sugestion.

I'vee beeen asking around a bunch of this one and the feedback i've been getting has been very onesided. Tanks in general don't like being on thee ram. They also don't really fancy the Ram minigame very much, They rolled a tank coz they want to use the tanks abillties and help with damage mitigration etz. So here's my sugestion.
Why not make the ram swing automaticly and let the ram dmg ramp up the longer thee ram stays alive. This way the keep seiges will be more about protecting the ram. And supressing fire from the walls.

Most of us never really liked the way the rams were handled. I mean you cant even Type while on the ram =/

I tend to swing my attack, jump off, Hit an ability like dodge/armor or hit Hold hte line and then go back to the ram before the next swing.

Just wondering, but are we currently even able to protect the ram? Ive never actually noticed if it could be effected by any buffs etc.

Can't say I agree with this. I don't see a problem with 4 tanks out of the entire keep attack having to focus on the ram. I just think the mini-game needs to be fixed (able to chat/see chat...etc) or changed to something new. Automating the ram just seems... lazy (wrong word perhaps?) to me. Knocking down the door should require constant player interaction.

yah not interested in automated ram usage.

Anyone remember how ram's worked on DAOC? I think they were automated but you had to like walk them to the destination, and they were very very slow. Maybe I am mistaken?

Yes, I remember walking them from the tower door to the outer door of the keep

I think having to escort the ram could be a cool idea. I liked how in the retail game u had to escort the people carrying the rams to the keep. But thats a bit off topic, i dont like the idea of automatic ram. Needing atleast 4 people plus support for them is one of the ways that keep a couple of people from being able to take a keep by themself.

We are going to have towed rams, and have intended to for many months.

We took down alot of keep doors on live with just a 6man. But taking on a keeplord in RoR with a 6man is pretty much impossible. You can pretty easy knock down an undefended door in RoR aswell with just a 6man. But thats beside the point. The point is that stuff like the ram mechanic is something that puts people off from playing tanks in RVR, they just don't find it fun to sit on a ram, they want to use their class. Not play seige-weapon-hammer.

It would be a godsend if you could open chat/type while on the ram. This should be the first step to improving the system with rams imo. I’m not sure how difficult this is to implement however, if I remember correctly you cannot type/chat while on other siege weapons that put you into that locked siege window display.
Maybe some kind of visual display above the ram to show how many people are currently using it?

Having to jump off the ram each time and scream at people to fill the ram is annoying.
