War camps can be hit from beyond guard range. If Snipe / Bolt of Change become insane at range, there are two real options:
- Complex handling, reducing damage over last 50ft or 75ft of range.
- Cooldown restoration to 10s.
This exact problem can manifest with towed siege weapons already.

Stop asuming that I didn't. You have no idea if my opinions comes from theory crafting or experience. You're calling people out for theory crafting when you don't know if its thats the case and telling em to stop spreading missinformation then you do the exact same thing yourself. I just expressed my opinions wrongly. English isn't my first language and sometimes comes out wrong. Az explanations isn't always helping either as they tend to be pretty convoluted. I didn't mean a 50% nerf in hps I meant a 50% nerf in relation to the 2,5 sec casts wich acording to my numbers is a 10% lower hps on yourself if you happen to have dps stacks when **** hits the fan. Also loosing the instant cast CCs while in a healing spec is a straight up nerf imo.

Good to know. So for the moment or at least the near future anything that requires patching the client is a bit of a no go. Since that is the case then going about it from a guard / warcamp design perspective might be the only solution.Azarael wrote: The client limits very heavily what we can do.
The implementation of the Engineer/Magus range works clientside by sending the buff "True Magic", which has a component which increases range, so that the client will recognise the range update. How a given buff component affects the client is defined by the client itself, and in True Magic's case it's a general range modifier. For things like range, cast time modification etc. we need to find a component which does something close to what we need to do or we can't do anything.
Changing Snipe's range directly would require either patching a client .myp, having the client load one of our own, or (if something is exposed in the client's LUA) using a patcher to download an addon which would rewrite the range directly. I'm still a little unsure about the whole concept of patching the actual client files, and not willing to take unnecessary risks with the existence of RoR.
More guards on the PvE side of camps might help to mitigate the issue, as would walls in specific warcamps / spawn points.
If an engi / magus is sniping from the lake, they at least make themselves WE / WH bait.

People that are warcamp sniping should be dealt with individually as opposed to reverting any changes as a result of that. Similarly people exploiting rift in keeps were dealt with individually. Alternatively just go find them and kill them: Bolt of Change - even with 40% dmg - does not pose a huge threat on its own: move out of the way, get friends and kill him, report him, anything. I can see the case being a bit different for engineers with M2, but I would still advocate naming and shaming them (if that is the desired course of action) instead of reverting something cool and unique to play with.
I honestly can't think why Snipe/BOC would be come insane at range when it's essentially a doombolt that doesn't benefit from sorc mechanic/the crit tactic magus get; it's only benefit being range/unavoidable component.

When would climb on the edge of thunder mountains order warcamp and killed hapless empire scum outside the guards, I got a wall built on the edge of a cliff in my honor. I hope many dwarves fell to their deaths in its construction.
