As Dabbart pointed out, there is more than one way to get to the last point. After capping the 2nd last point, you can easily have a few people, or god forbit, your 'Red Guard" premade and go around the back and cap the last point.
From there you can flank the opposition if they push out to try and kill your team who are likely still on the second last point. Yes you may miss out on a few precious kills in your scenario and your death blow to death ratio might suffer on the score boards but its not all that bad in the long run.
