@Telperien Yes i can switch between GPUs freely from BIOS, however my Nvidia panel does not see a second GPU and this is not a laptop, but a stationary PC.

Definitly there is something wrong with seeing ur geforce by RoR. Try google fix for your system. Believe me I had same issues with win 10 when I 1st installed it:)

Did Win 8.1 still have DirectX 9.0c by default? It might be a different install link than what's provided in the download instructions. That was only tested on Win10.

With the directx i have tried to install it as a package from microsoft and to extract the dll file and put that into the game folder, that however did also not work.
I don't really feel like reinstaling my OS to check the game

By the way guys, would you be interested in a tutorial about how to launch the game on a Windows7 VM? I agree the method is a bit of a overkill, but allows the game to be played on both Linux and Mac hosts, and is a bit simpler than the Wine method

for me its a miracle how someone can use 8.1 in the first place

Until games will actually use the Directx12 that is the only salepoint of W10 for my stationary PC, the 8.1 is fine for me. W10 is better for laptops with the virtual desktop feature, but to be honest they tried to copy that from Macs and failed a bit.
