Advice Channel and Language Control

So, today this happened:

How about handing out warnings and then bans to people not talking english in advice chat? Because that IS a problem, speaking from experience from WoW private servers.

Could you offer any particular reason why players should be mandated to use English on global chats?

Because they exclude themselves from the rest of the server? It sends a hostile attitude to other players?

I find usage of other languages on global chats mildly annoying, but is my irritation more important than the ability of players who perhaps cannot speak English to communicate using a global channel?

Yes. That might seem strange at first, but over time, people will simply not use it anymore. Just because they don't expect anything to come from that.

And btw, those two can speak english (although Sabrina only brokenly and mostly cursewords...). So the only reason they are doing it is to stick it to other people.

Btw i'm not talking about the occasional "looking for xyz speaking guild" in another language, i'm talking about whole conversations being held there.

This will likely be discussed in the Code of Conduct being drawn up.

Thank you.

edit: I'm also not saying all of this to be racist or something, hell, my girlfriend is russian^^ But stuff like this just divides and drives apart the community into language groups.

I've been considering this myself lately, and as much as I found it problematic at first it's always best to come to an amicable solution everyone can live with. Not really my place to say of course, but the volume of players is growing rapidly and this type of problem is only going to lead to a middle of the road type of solution where everyone feels unhappy.
Maybe it is best to add a voice chat channel for each language and list them in the existing threads that support each language on the forums already, so everyone knows where to find support in their own language if need-be.
I think devs and support staff already have enough of a task to please all, so best we don't add to the strain of their jobs by expecting them to please everyone all of the time. It's just not possible.
Don't get me wrong, I'm an Orc hence I have a certain distaste for rules, but in the end trying to accommodate all means it is necessary to have a sensible policy in this regard and a code of conduct to accompany it. It is the more professional option and not really all that much to ask, I doubt anyone will be inconvenienced by it.
