Tank shielding ability

Hi , i was thinking about an ability for tanks that could be nice and help against caster/ranged. Actually , what about a "reflect" shield ? I mean , a shield that ll just reflect any spell cast at the tank for like 3-5 secs . With a cooldown of 20-30 secs . This could help some tanks breach easily into enemies rank .

Just a simple suggestion ☺

IB already has this in the form of Oathstone, BO in the form of CHM, and BG in the form of NSP.

SM has this in the form of WODS - but its a 2h ability, given that the SM is a 2h tank - while Chosen/KOBS have thornesque auras that deal damage when hit (OYG and DF).

I think OP means reflecting the full spell back at attackers xD

Oh, so similar to the WoW warrior's Spell Reflect? Can't see that going down well, what with the likes of Bolt of Change and Word of Pain...

tesq , i am not sure i understood what u meant...in my "case" , the spell will be reflected at the caster . so , i see it as if the caster will be casting all his offensive spells on himself for 5 secs ( most castable spells in this game are 2.5-3secs casting) , so it ll be at least 1 to 2 spells ... could open a space for some new strategies , especially against nuking groups. Imagine the bright wizard's fiery blast being reflected to himself and his group (loool)...:)

Define 'spell'.

Spell in terms of actual casts?
Spell in terms of abilities that deal magical damage?
Spell in terms of general abilities?

Regardless of definition, how would morales be dealt with?

If only casts are relevant for you, how would you deal with realm technicalities (Sorcs and Magi [by extension Zealots in organized ORvR] versus Brightwizards [by extension Runepriests in organized RvR] as the only relevant casters; Shamans, Archmages, Runepriests and Zealots as mostly irrelevant sidekicks)?

If all abilities with magical components are concerned, where and when would you draw the line?
If strictly all abilities are concerned, where and when - again - would you draw the line?

Abbd.:
It boils down to adding a full reflect ontop of thorns-esque abilities and disrupt... whereas applications would be limited to effectively three classes - one of which already struggles bad enough in ORvR in anything but a utility role - if strictly casts were concerned.
Casters are mostly irrelevant outside pugfarm (whether scenarios or ORvR kite groups); a meleetrain featuring a full-on 'Spell Reflect' would be overkill in scenarios and the ability as such irrelevant in small scale roam... outside of tank-v-caster 1v1, which, then again, is still irrelevant longterm.

Use an actual shield and magic/bow isn't so tough anymore.

There's very little reason to play shield tanks vs 2-handed atm in rvr/pvp, they're just last to be killed. It's especially true since they removed the good punt from shield tanks. This was a bad move as it was a major benefit to play shield.

I'd like to see guard ability (but only with shield equipped) grant additional bonuses to the guard target. For example, Tank w/shield guards and grants +10% damage/+10% healing outgoing/+10% crit all types to the target, which would stack with all other bonuses. Because right now the 2-hand tank is granting even MORE damage to the assist train, with similar guard/defense, than this proposed change.

If we're being silly

"And MY shield!" - Ironbreaker
"Git to da Blocka!" - Black Orc

Your defensive target replaces his weapon with your shield for X seconds. You equip the highest ranked 2h weapon in your inventory during this duration.
