Last Thursday spawned a very lively NA session, and it's honestly been getting better/more fun since some of the population left and as summer has been coming to a close.
Theres barely 500 online atm, its middle of EU prime time. When i started RoR in the early days of February pop at same time and day was crossing 1k.

*shrug* that doesn't really have much to do with NA pop still being fairly active. EU has more vaca days in general; doesn't surprise me that there is less pop at the end of July.

One day a week with an avo warband vs pug destro isn’t “fun”, or at least not some people’s version of fun. That coupled with other issues caused the population to suffer. Here’s to wiping and starting over 🍻🍻🍻

It sounds like you are complacent with “fairly active”. You like **** stomping pugs in rvr and scenes? Not having good fights during NA because everyone has been banned or quit for obvious reasons? Not my ror. #makerorgreatagain

?? des had 2 pug wbs vs SOD/TW and some mashups + Zaxxed had at least a group and I'm sure there was another less known guild there. We had a lot of fun -- normally do on Thursday nights; were you there? If not, you should come by sometime.

We didn't "pug stomp" anyone -- we had solid fights, lost some vs a funnel, won some with aao out in the open.. just because you weren't aware that there was action doesn't mean there was none.

Maybe it's your personal subjective opinion of game becoming more fun with a shrinking playerbase, but I'd generally argue that in a pvp game the players itself are the content - and once the amount of players starts a trend of decline, game starts feeling less "full", and less rewarding. Either because you notice that when you had epic zone fights of 300v300, now you have at best 100v100 skirmishing around, when you had 3-5 guilds running 2-4fgs on each side, now you have maybe 1-2 on each side - rest being random horde of pugs... and in my opinion, the game becomes a "lesser" experience, simply because due to players being the content in pvp, you get "less" out of it.
Maybe the trend will start moving towards higher numbers once forts are released and the endgame doesn't just revolve around hugging flags and being spanked by a rampaging keep lord, or once the next RvR sets are released and people get some new medals to grind.

I personally hope the future gives us less "bans" and "permanent bans" and more "mutes" and "1 year long mutes", each player being content to other players in pvp, so even if they say mean things or shout/spam odd things or emotes, it would just be better to make them silent instead of removing them from game. Obviously some exploits might require temporary trips to moon or minor vacations of some weeks or months, but hopefully not permanent exiles. After all, there are only limited amount of players who loved WAR so much that they are still willing to play a private server of a dead game (a game that died for good reasons), and the number isn't going upwards in the future as things stand.

I was referring to population halved over last couple of months, not NA pop.

It's not my "personal opinion that the game gets better with a declining population," but to argue that NA is "dead" when just last Thursday we had at least 1.5wb v 1.5wb where a month and a half ago all we could muster was a rocks kite-to-wc squad + pugs vs an SOD/TW 12man + pugs, I'd say NA is more fun than it has been in a bit. You may bring up EU all you like, but that's not my point.

Fair point - I was discussing the latter. Don't really have much insight into EU pop.
Edit: but my point on the vacation days still stands 8-)
