Dye Armor

Hello,

Small cosmetic change I'd like to propose, would aid both sides without interfering much with the game;

Reduce price for dying armors by 90% through main city NPC

Pros:
Groups could pick colors frequently for teammates to easily recognize them.
Costumization is core for RPG, Cosmetic customization for MMOs.

Cons
More happy people.

The main goal is to encourage players to customize cosmetic gear more frequently, adapting to guild colors, camouflage for RvR, Warbands, or any group you wish to represent, or misrepresent.

It could be done through all NPCs or individual NPCs in the main cities.

Another indirect benefit would be market stimulation for exotic dyes auctions and finds, one of very few consumables that could be of value and cannot be created by players.

The prices serve as a gold sink which the game has very few of and the gear sets change so infrequently that you don't have to worry about it going to waste. I wouldn't dye them right now as there is a new set coming soon.

Guilds would help cover the cost- "camouflage" is completely ineffective in rvr as there are addons that add huge symbols above player heads, and there's also the floating names-

That indirect benefit is completely false. Vendor dyes in no way affect the prices for the two-three "exotic" dyes worth having.

Grind some gold and sell some items.

Gold has already sunk, due to the lack of trade, setting trade limitations (like any) is just another nail in the coffin.

Auction has no items on demand and a handful of 'grindable' player made supply - meaning they are basically as valuable as the time it takes to craft them(generally)

Economy cannot exist if the value of goods (measured by Fiat/CPI/GDP/and interest rates) are static - it causes the value of it's own market cap to shrink and gradually collapse due to lack of demand and supply.

I don't mean to make it sound personal because it is not, but I think you are biased.

I Believe that maybe I didn't explain myself well, I'm talking about the cost for dying items at NPCs, not changing the price dyes are being sold to NPCs.

I've lots of gold on the AH house, but for the most part the stuff there is all garbage because you get better gear through rr vendors. That will never change.

Only way to retain value and gradually increase it (interest rates-inflation ratio) as in healthy economy is to create an increasing demand for what we classify as supply in general, consumables, anything that has any value should be maintained inside the economy or else it affects the value of everything else, see Venezuela, Greece, Turkey, US, or even your AH, the main reason a supply of a certain value is what you consider garbage is not because someone wouldn't want to have it for a certain value, but because they don't see a reason to pay for it, hence, it's value is much lower, I'm Jewish, beware. :mrgreen:

Anyhow, why else would you care if we pay 80 gold less to an NPC, it's the same with the gear and nobody loses, you know.

max 60 gold for full set.
maybe it is to new players.
but economy don't care only new players.

Surely cheaper vendor dyes would drive down AH prices if they have any effect at all? They are a different selection of dyes, sure, but that rarity markup is still based on the vendor price. If they do not have that relationship then they have no effect on each other at all.

Well and grinding mats for crafting or grind gold is it to, dunno Why you want reduced prices in dyes , its Really Easy to get Money in this Game..... i got near 3k and have no clue for what i should spend it
