Would it be possible to make RvR lakes Guild-v-Guild only lakes for shorter periods of time?
Im sure there are plenty of larger guilds ingame who would love to slog it out against each other without pesky outsiders getting involved to see who can best the other.
The idea would be that two guilds agree to a personal battle against each other, simply allow any guild to challenge, for a hefty ingame price, and then at a specific date and time the lake of choise becomes thise two guilds only for a short while.
Any non guild player entering the lake would simply be chickenified so as to allow the guilds to slug it out on their own.
T2 lakes are naturally the budget option as the keeps lack outer defences, T3 would be more expensive and if T4 lakes are includable would be most expensive.
The war would be over when the victorious guild captures the enemy keep or when the timer runs out, wichever comes first.
I very much doubt such a battle would last very long unless you have very powerfull or evenly matched guilds, I doubt few if any will last more than an hour or two so lets say the guilds have the lake for at most 5 hours.
Rewards would be bragging rights, whatever dropps as per the normal RvR rules would drop but the only "event" specific item would be a guild token to comemorate the event.
Its just a thought...

Re: Guild battles
Aren't 24v24 scenarios and city sieges (which are scs anyway) enough of a battleground for guilds to fight it out? Or do it like we did on live, go out to inactive zone and fight.

Re: Guild battles
You can always invite some guilds to 'closed' zones and 24 vs 24 there without anyone interrupting.
Re: Guild battles
Or they can just agree to meet in some backwater zone that's locked already and do it there?
Also I doubt any guild wants to waste time to 24vs24 **** keeps, it's them most boring thing and the one with more ranged wins the day.

Re: Guild battles
Its interestiung that nither of the three of you even consider the concept, just say it can be done in other ways, well the point was to do it this way.
Doing 24v24 scenareos do not have keeps, do not have all that is a RvR lake siege.
Sure you work towards a goal and win or fail but as I recall the larger scenareos they are all very different to RvR lakes.
Moreover the main concept would be guild vs guild scraps, when playing a scenareo you are pitted against a random oponent, there is no guarantee you will face off against a known advesary, here you would fight for honor with the whole server actually being able to see the result as it happens (even going into the zone to take a peak... as chicken admitedly but still).
It would also give a trophy to fight for, the token item proving for all you beat guild so and so.
As for going into locked zones, sure you can do that but again you completelly miss the concept, the idea is to see wich of the two guilds wins the lake, takes all the PO's and breaches the castle. Having a scrap in a closed RvR lake is fun but you cant play through the mechanics.
I have no problem if the answer is 'its too hard to do' or 'we dont have the time to work it out' but 'why bother' is never a good reason not to do it.

Re: Guild battles
The guilds wont do a 24vs24 battle because everyone is scared of their Reputation.
Phalanx did a 24vs24 back in the day as a Greenskins vs Dwarfs Warband.
Where the Dwarfs were run by the Bitterstone Thunderers.

Later we did a Chaos vs Dwarfs 24vs24 in a specific zone.
And the Bitterstone Thunderers were the only ones answering the call of Phalanx to make this event. Because there is nothing to win, and only reputation to loose. Or look at the Bitterbowl, the 6vs6 Tournament. It was perfectly organized and a fun for a lot of the teams. At the same time shittalk exploded there rapidly, regularly.
Or afterwards people used the guilds placing to say that they have no clue of the game and should shut up on balance and class discussions.

It was all in good sports, no ego or reputation on the line it was just practise internally for when Citysieges would release. 24v24 bracket is alot harder to get good practise for, as you need to rely on more people being online at the same time and scheduel those sort of fights with an others roster. Where as a 6v6pracise would only require 12players total to test out a new comp.
Regardless, these happend before Citysiege release.
