I've been wondering what the developers stance on implementing the no exp book that Mythic added to the game near the end.I did some searching here on the forums and didn't see a definitive answer on the subject.
Personally I would like to see it added in RoR. One thing I always hated in WAR was always trying to minimize my exp gain while maximizing my renown gain. Quests, PQs or dungeons before T4? Nope, too much exp. If you got to T4 before maximizing your RR, you were screwed. RR50 Choppa? Good luck living long enough to get to that RR90 Archemage, let alone actually doing any damage to him.
I've seen the subject debated here and it seems the biggest argument against it is that people don't want other players to disable exp and "twink" in the lower tiers, which I can fully understand. Fighting invincible tanks and healers isn't fun and neither is getting one-shot by that WH/WE before they render on your screen. I don't think twinks would be as large an issue however if we had appropriate level requirements on talismans and potions. T1 players never should have been able to have +18 stat talis and high level armor pots etc. I've always felt that was the bigger issue and not having the ability to disable exp won't prevent it either. Even before the no exp book you still saw tons of AM/Shaman twinks etc. running around with high level talis and pots. Sure, they eventually leveled out of the tier but they always did their best to prolong that as long as possible and then another just took their place anyway.
I think we can have the best of both worlds here, if the devs are willing to do it.

Re: No Exp Book
Most ppl would be against a no xp book for the obvious reason twinks and rightly so however i can see some positives for it and i think if it was ever to happen having it work like the old trial system where you could only reach a set level, tier 1 would be rank 10 rr20 or have it even rr10 so ppl still have the option to stick with a certain tier. They would still be powerful but not hugely so.

Re: No Exp Book
There is no need for a xp book, as xp rate had alredy been adjusted and it will again if there will be any reason....also if it's true that ppl entered in t4 with a low rr level where screw, also ppl that enterd in t3 and found rank 39 rr 70+ ppl 3/6 man premade had a bad life too, so no thx.
It's not even officialy decided with direction for t4 should take, if old rr80 enviroment or 1.4.0 with rr 100 or even a mix with some change. Even if it has been done a pool (not from dev), ppl will continue to grow so that will be discussed in future when the time comes.

Re: No Exp Book
Without XP-off nobody will play PvE before max rank. Lower tiers will become empty as people rise in rank, without being able to move back without twinking.
The number of players in the highest available tier will be higher than the number of people in lower tiers.
Players will grind XP only to reach the tier where all the action is. I would not like that, as lower tier rvr is fun.
BUT at this point, this is future talk and not important.
@Tesq: Fresh people to T3 had no problems at all, when wearing good items for their rank due to bolster combined with above average skill. I only say 5k armor WP/DOK rank 26 in T3. Fun times.

Re: No Exp Book
Instead i saw as order side playing my wh some destru player having dok/sorc and chosen/Bo rank 39/rr 70+ not nice
Those ppl deliberaly play there to have better stats than others........another exploit......
Also why they shoulden't aim for t4? ppl need to stick togheter and bring some massive rvr not play in small skirmish enviroment.
If you fear for other zone being empty , this is a private serve solution can be found, also solution are alredy being found and are alredy in game (De-booster).

Re: No Exp Book
Because gear differences are minimal in lower tiers, even t3. You are forced to enter T3 with R27 and a top T3 set, the conq set, was already rank 30.Tesq wrote:Instead i saw as order side playing my wh some destru player having dok/sorc and chosen/Bo rank 39/rr 70+ not nice

You can use all the items to be competitive on a low rank, blaming the renown rank of your enemy is weak.

Re: No Exp Book
Without XP off T1 will die off as soon as T2 is released. Lots of RvR lakes were empty on live, especially in the lower tiers, don't want that to happen here. Balance talismans for tier 1 and 2, or simply not add them at all if it means breaking the current meta. Just my .02 cents.

Re: No Exp Book
Tesq, I would like to reiterate the point that I tried to make in my first post. Simply turning off exp does not make someone a twink with better stats than everyone else. Having access to talismans and potions farmed by a higher level character does and is the root cause of the problems associated with twinks. If players weren't able to use high level talis and potions it wouldn't matter if they turned exp off or not because they would be using the same gear as everyone else.

Re: No Exp Book
One way to combat twinks would be to set restriction on talismans and potions. I think T1 will die out anyway as soon as T2 is released, so there will probably be a fix to allow T1 to join T2 scenarios so people could at least level. Maybe even bolster them to T2 RvR Lake levels as well.
Twinks can't be a problem if no one plays in the lower tiers. In fact there might be a few events for twink only T1 RvR or something like that but as I see it, the xp book seems rather useless in the grand scheme of things.
